Did you know America’s first documented commercial gold discovery happened right here in Midland, NC? 🪙

We recently took the kids to Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site, just a few minutes from Locust, and it was such a fun little adventure!

From exploring the FREE museum to taking a guided tour through the historic underground mine (where we even spotted bats! 🦇), there’s so much to see and learn!

They also offer gold panning, which we’re definitely coming back to try!

City Of Locust Basketball Registration is open. 🏀

🏀 Basketball registration is open!

There are two opportunities for young players this season:

• 1st–5th Grade: Regular season basketball with practices & games
• Kindergarten: 6-week basketball clinic series, led by Luke Gibson of Perfect 10 Skills Academy, LLC, capped at the first 20 registrations

Registration closes October 31, so don’t wait to get your player signed up!

Children must live within Locust city limits or attend Locust Elementary School to participate.
