🚧 If you’ve noticed the land being cleared near the intersection of West Main Street and Browns Hill Church Road, here’s what we know.

This graphic summarizes information recently shared by Locust City Councilman Mike Haigler regarding the future Sam’s Express development.

You may remember that we first shared news of a proposed Sam’s Express several years ago. According to the information provided by the City, the project was approved nearly three years ago and will be one of five parcels planned for the site. The development is expected to include three access points, landscaped areas, and a pond with a fountain near the church entrance.

At this time, Sam’s Express is the only approved business announced for the parcels. If additional projects come before zoning or are officially approved, we’ll be sure to keep the community updated.

Celebrate Make Music Day in Stanly County with FREE family-friendly workshops, live performances, patriotic sing-alongs, and hands-on music activities! 🇺🇸

Locust will be hosting activities in the breezeway between City Hall and the Library from 1–5 PM, including kazoo making, a petting zoo, rhythm fun, and bucket drumming.

Whether you’re a musician or just love music, this is a great way to celebrate Father’s Day and enjoy a fun afternoon in our community. 🎵

Help local students start the school year strong! 🎒📚

BridgED is collecting school supplies for K–12 students in our community, and a donation drop-off box is now set up right here at The Brew Room in Locust. ❤️

Items needed include backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, folders, glue sticks, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, erasers, and pencil sharpeners.

Every donation—big or small—helps ensure local students have the tools they need to succeed. Stop by, grab your favorite coffee, and consider dropping off a few supplies while you’re there.
