Currently, each person’s thoughts and actions are vital in slowing the spread of the global pandemic COVID 19.
At Daikoku Design Institute, we will be sharing designed bits of information about preventing and reducing infection risk. With simple and comprehensive graphics, we will visualize information provided from CDC, WHO, governments, and other reputable sources that we think should be shared, acknowledged, and understood. We value speed and accuracy, trying to flexibly accomodate to the ever-changing situation. Please share if you agree with our mission!
That said, Social distancing is currently the key to reducing and preventing overshoot. By practicing a safe distance with others, we can each drastically reduce infection risk. Please keep your distance for now. We sincerely pray that people worldwide would be able to get back to business as usual as swiftly as possible.

I designed original wooden doll “BRANCH” for the HIDA exhibition. These wooden dolls are created using Hida Sangyo’s compression technology. Tree branches are bound together and compressed simultaneously. The wood warps in a random yet fortuitous way each time, its form and annual rings morphing into patterns both organic and new to nature. I used cedar and walnut for their body, and inlaid with brass, copper and aluminum for the eyes. Then they became more cool getting with Californian colorful feathers on each head. I really love them.

“Nabedaira” designed by is showed at the HIDA exhibition at in Hollywood. This original fabric was designed to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the launch of Hida Sangyo’s Hotaka furniture series. Six colors of warp thread with three colors of weft are intricately woven using Gobelin tapestry techniques for an elaborate woodland floral effect.
