Designers, have you ever been given a PDF file and wish you could make edits to its native design file?

For many years a plugin provider I've liked named Markzware has been making file conversion plugins for a wide range of software applications (ex. QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign, PDF to PowerPoint and so on).

With Adobe's decision to force its users to rent their software, instead of owning it in perpetuity, Markzware was forced to change their business model to subscription as well. The result is that the cost of converting a PDF to Adobe InDesign will now cost you $199/yr (ouch) even if you only need to use it once.

Luckily, Markzware offers a cheaper alternative for those who only need to convert files to Adobe InDesign on a very rare occasion. Starting at about $40 you can have a file converted with no subscription needed. Click the link below to learn more about it.

If you are a Windows users and in the Graphics community, you may want to ignore the U.S. Government's instruction to delete QuickTime. While the video player has been abandoned by Apple, and is a known security threat, deleting the application could prevent you from using your Adobe Creative Cloud software.

Luckily for us Mac users, the issue isn't so dire.

The king of social media just announced a minor change to their logo. As the article states, Facebook's creative director wanted to "…modernize the logo to make it feel more friendly and approachable".

But did the quest for a smartphone-friendly design lead to an over simplified look and feel?

Facebook is making a small change in the typeface for its corporate logo Tuesday, with thinner letters and more white space.

Frank Rupp Design, Inc. is happy to report that power has been fully restored. I would like to thank all of my clients for being very patient during this week's winter storm hiatus. Luckily no deadlines were missed and I am still on track for next week.
