Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance Luncheon at the Petroleum Museum !

While there, we received insight into the few current projects that are happening in Midland and Odessa, one of those being the new Ector County Courthouse. Ector County Judge Dustin Fawcett spoke on behalf of the ECC, providing new renderings and information for plans!

The ECC will be having its groundbreaking on June 4th, as well as its open house later that evening.

Last week, we were able to attend the Literacy Coalition's 4th Annual Literacy for Growth Summit at the Ellen Noel Art Museum 📚

This regional event brought together educators, workforce leaders, employers, nonprofit organizations, and community partners who are committed to strengthening communities through literacy and workforce development!

Attendees were able to experience a dynamic day of learning and collaboration, including a keynote presentation, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and community vendors. The keynote speaker was Jacqueline “Jackie” Aguilera, COABE’s 2026 Administrator of the Year. Aguilera is a nationally recognized strategist who works to strengthen adult education ecosystems through collaboration, innovation, and learner-focused design. As part of the Literacy Texas team, she leads community initiatives and supports statewide professional learning while building partnerships that expand opportunity for adult learners.

We definitely sprang into this spring work, as it's been a busy few weeks for us!

Last week we had a casting for an exciting new show that will be airing on Netflix called "Schooled"! Code Ninjas was one of the casting hubs for the new show, which is a competition series produced by YouTube sensation and former NASA engineer Mark Rober. In partnership with Crunch Labs, the search was aimed at finding the next generation of creators who excel in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

We also sent our videographer, Angel, to Second Story Coworking to grab testimonies from individuals involved with Thriving United! This organization was created to provide recovery services, including peer support, housing, teen programs, and links to treatment services, to those who are struggling.

We're thankful for the work and opportunity to be part of great things here in Midland!

Bittersweet day as we send off our wonderful intern, Fernanda!

Fernanda is a student at UTPB and we were blessed enough to have her work with us these last few months. While here, she’s focused on graphic design and working with Spanish content. Her recent project were these beautiful posters for the office!

She put a lot of work into them and we felt it was only fitting to share them with everyone else. We are beyond proud of you and cannot wait to see what your next journey entails! Thank you for the dedication, eagerness to learn, and that big smile you always brought to the office. Fernanda’s next role will be as a Longhorn in Austin, TX 🧡🤠

We will miss you, and we wish you nothing but the best!
