Happy Dolly Day 9-2-5. We celebrate this remarkable woman and all the love she shared with the world with this video of a song from her “The Grass is Blue” album. We shot it in front of this wonderful mural painted by Gus Cutty in Anya’s west Asheville neighborhood where hundreds of people gathered each day to pay their respects and leave flowers. Thanks to Steve Atkins Fox Cove Photography and Adam McMillan Shadow Light Creative for directing and editing the video.

A piece of Asheville history is coming down.

The former St. Joseph's Hospital campus has cared for generations of Western North Carolinians, with roots stretching back more than a century.

Watching it disappear is a reminder that every skyline tells a story - and eventually, a new chapter begins.

Facebook just reminded me of this really special experience.

I took this photo 10 years ago. It shows Brian Haynes (left) with his brother Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule, Allman Brothers Band) onstage at an all-star concert and rally for Brian Haynes for Asheville City Council.

10 years ago, I worked with the Brian Haynes campaign for Asheville City Council - which he won, if your not local to Asheville 🙂

I also was the designated photo/video professional for this very grassroots campaign. This unique experience of working with Brian and my other fellow community members helping to create and grow a better vision of what’s possible for our community was extremely rewarding and inspiring. I think back on this time fondly, and now I regularly see Brian at my son’s school when he’s there to pick up his grandkids. Our children being among some of the newest members of this great community we have had the honor to serve in our own different ways.

This experience also feels especially significant as a reminder of seeing what is possible when we all work together towards a better world. Especially on a personal/local level. We all have a voice and we all play a role in building our communities. I hope we as a people will only grow to feel more empowered to share our voice and to feel more compassion and understanding towards one another for a better future for us all.

This wasn’t the only time I’ve had the opportunity to bring my media and marketing skills to a meaningful campaign, but it WAS the first - and I will forever be grateful for the experience.

Congratulations to super talented artist Whitney Mongé on being selected as an Official Artist for SXSW! Well-deserved.

We've had the (fun) opportunity to work with her a few times over the last couple of years - most recently, we made this promo video from her performance at White Horse Black Mountain.
