🧟 Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living.

When players return to a familiar universe, they bring years of memories with them. That means localization has to do more than introduce new content: it needs to understand the history behind every choice.

Our latest article explores the work behind Resident Evil Requiem’s localization, where Terra’s team helped adapt the game across 10 locales while maintaining the identity players have come to associate with the franchise.

The result is a reminder that consistency does not mean staying still. Sometimes, protecting a legacy means knowing when to preserve and when to adapt.

🎮 Vancouver, here we come!

Marina Ilari will be attending LocWorld56 from October 19 to 21, but this edition will be a little different. Beyond connecting with the localization community, Marina will also be stepping onto the stage twice during the event.

First, she will present "Model agnostic AI voices editor: One layer to operationalize them all," Terra’s innovative solution chosen as a finalist in LocWorld’s Process Innovation Challenge (PIC #21):

📅 October 20 | 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
📍 Ballrooms B&C

Later that day, she will moderate “Rethinking Quality as a Driver of Global Game Success”, a panel exploring how localization quality continues to evolve:

📅 October 20 | 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm
📍 East Meeting Room 9

Presenters:
Jamie Cox - That’s No Moon
Caitlin Quiat - Wizards of the Coast

We are excited for the conversations ahead and the opportunity to share Terra’s perspective with the localization community in Vancouver.

🎮 This International Translation Day, we’re looking at language through the eyes of one of gaming’s most famous explorers.

In Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara Croft’s growing language knowledge changes how she reads the world around her. There’s something familiar in that journey for the linguists who help bring game worlds to players across languages.

Our latest blog explores the parallels between that process and the work linguists do when finding their way through a game’s world. A fitting adventure for a day dedicated to the people who make understanding possible. right?

🎮 Back from Vancouver with plenty of good memories from XDS 2026!

Colleen had a great time reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new people, with plenty of genuinely interesting conversations about where the gaming industry is headed along the way.

That exchange of perspectives is a big part of what made this event such a worthwhile week, especially at a time when there is so much happening across the industry.

Until next time, XDS!
