Storytime: a client we've had almost since the beginning.

Local designer and artist Matt Goad, you've probably seen his work around town, including the new terrazzo design at the Oklahoma City airport.

We started working with Matt back around 2010, cutting patterns for his geometric art pieces. As we both grew, we ended up building wall wraps, apparel, and projects for clients all over the city together, from Continental to VW to the Fowler dealership in Norman.

Matt's the one who designed our own rebrand back in 2014. That logo came out of a conversation while we were working on a completely different project together, and it became a pivotal moment for Lettering Express. We love the relationships we've been able to form through decades in OKC.

Your logo has a secret life you don't know about until it hits a vehicle.

When scaling a small logo up to vehicle size, everything that was hidden gets exposed... soft edges, pixelation, fonts that were never outlined, colors that were never set up for print. That's not a bad logo. It's a logo built for one context, being asked to do a job it wasn't set up for.

Before you wrap a vehicle, ask your designer one question: is this file built for large format print?

We asked more members of our team what they noticed when a wrapped vehicle drives by.

They said they look to see if it has a matte or gloss finish, clean laminate work, sealed edges over doors and corners with no bubbling. They also check for color consistency, clean lines along the body, level text, and zero typos.

This is our team remaining mindful of details on the daily.
