Hours for a couple Fridays have been added in September.
This might be a long one and a personal one, but I will try to keep it on the shorter side…
Last December, I had a heart attack. However, the heart cath showed no blockage so they didn’t know why except that it was possible that a coronary artery spasm caused it. I was released a few days before Christmas and put on light duty for the next month or so. I then went to my follow up appointment with the cardiologist from Findlay. Told them I was still having symptoms, still not feeling very great, and was told that I would be fine and would feel better when it got warm out. I then tried to see a different cardiologist within BVHS and after asking multiple times and getting the run around each time, was then told I needed a referral from my family doctor.
Now, let’s fast forward to summer, when I was actually feeling worse, you know, when it was warm out…This time (July), I called a cardiologist at Lima Memorial and guess what, I got in with no problems. First appointment, he says you don’t just have a heart attack for no reason, there is something and we are going to figure it out. He has me come in for a procedure, AND finds the issue right away. I go in to find out the results from the procedure and am told that I not only have a hole in my heart, but I have a severe mitral valve regurgitation. He put me on light duty until further notice and referred me to Columbus.
Last week, Eric and I spent 2 days in Columbus to talk to multiple people, do more tests, and figure out the next steps. My tests showed my regurgitation rate at 110cc (the standard threshold for severity is 60) and my EROA value at .56 cm2 (severe is .40 and above). After speaking to a couple different surgeons, we chose one and are moving forward with him. I will have to do some more tests in the next few weeks for preparation purposes. I will then be going in for heart surgery at the end of September at OSU.
That being said, starting the last week of September, I will be out of the office for several weeks. I will be completely unreachable for at least two weeks (end of September / beginning of October). I will then be working from home until I am cleared to come back into the office. While I am out, Lindsay and Mackinley will be running things at the store to the best of their abilities. They do both have morning classes, so store hours will be in the afternoon only during this time and they will have production hours outside of store hours to keep things running. They will also have some help from other friends and family.
I am attaching the tentative calendar for September/October. The girls will post updates on Facebook and on the front door as needed. If you need something, feel free to check in with them. They will be checking emails and messages when they can. They know which jobs to expect that we have year after year, so don’t worry if you are one of those. We’ve got you covered and have planned ahead for you! They will use their discretion for everything else that comes in. Think ahead and order early as turnaround before Christmas always gets longer. I have no doubt the girls will handle things until I recover. I trust both of my girls completely. Please be patient with them; please be kind to them.
