I’ll be the first to tell you social media isn’t for everyone or every business.
One of the questions I always ask before someone commits to showing up online is: why should someone follow you beyond what you sell?
Maybe you’re offering entertainment. Maybe you’re sharing expertise. Maybe you’re giving people a behind the scenes look at your world. There are a lot of right answers — but you have to have your answer.
And here’s the thing nobody talks about enough: creating content gets so much easier when you’re not putting on an act.
When you’re leveraging real moments from your everyday life — and connecting them back to your business, your industry, your values — it stops feeling like a performance. It starts feeling like just... sharing.
I heard something recently that stopped me in my tracks:
“The first step to being successful on social is living a life you love.”
That hit. Because it’s true.
For me it’s the garden. My dogs. Time with friends and family. Discovering new places, trying new food. Those things make my life feel rich — and they make showing up online feel easy, because I’m not manufacturing content. I’m just sharing what’s already there.
So if social feels hard right now — I’d gently ask: is it the posting that’s the problem? Or is it that you’re not sure what’s worth sharing?
Because I bet your life has more in it than you think. 🧡
