The neon sign on the corner of Martin and Dawson has been telling downtown Raleigh where to eat since 1949.
When it was finally restored, the work was done by the grandson of the man who originally built it.
That corner has been feeding people for decades. The Warren family put up the building and the sign. Joe’s Place ran it for close to 30 years. A few others came and went. Then in 2016 Parkside took the space, kept the sign, and got to work.
Scratch kitchen, red brick and reclaimed wood, beer on tap, American classics done properly.
In 2023, they opened a second parksidewendell out at Wendell Falls. Bigger room in Treelight Square, a real patio, seats around 150, same made from scratch food and same weekend brunch with a little more elbow room.
MRC developed the branding in 2016. Primary logo lockup with location descriptor, secondary wordmark, brand mark, and supporting icons. The job was to build something that could sit next to 1949 neon without picking a fight with it. A mark that looked like it had been there a while, because in every way that mattered, it had.
Congrats on 10 years, Parkside!!
