Whatever happened to real web developers?
It feels like the web development industry has become flooded with template builders, drag-and-drop platforms, and now AI-generated websites
Don't get me wrong. These tools have their place, but somewhere along the way, I think we started confusing building a website with developing one!
When I say I'm a web developer, I mean I actually develop websites:
I spend time in VS Code.
I write HTML.
I write CSS.
I write JavaScript.
I build functionality from scratch.
I troubleshoot the code when something breaks.
I optimize the experience for different screen sizes.
I think about performance, accessibility, SEO, structure, and the actual purpose behind every element
I don't start with a template and try to make your business fit inside of it. I build around your business; WITHOUT having to worry about updating plug ins
That's a huge part of what I do at Beyond Website Design LLC. My goal isn't to pump out another website that looks like hundreds of others online. It's to create something custom, intentional, functional, and built specifically FOR YOU
AI can generate code. Templates can provide a starting point, but there's still value in having a developer who understands why the code is there, how it works, and how to make it work for your specific needs.
That's the kind of development I believe in. If you're a business owner looking for a website that goes beyond a template, I'd love to talk
