Just, my camera, a huge basement… and apparently a few spider webs. 🕷️😂

The glamorous side of real estate photography!

This was a Standard Listing Package, and while I was making my way through the basement capturing the final photos, you can hear my camera taking three photos every time I press the shutter.

There’s a reason for that.
I shoot my real estate photos bracketed, which means my camera captures three different exposures of the exact same composition, one darker, one in the middle, and one brighter.

Why?

Because our eyes can naturally see detail in a bright window AND in the darker areas of a room at the same time. A camera has a harder time capturing that entire range of light in one photo.

Those three exposures give me more information to work with when editing so I can create a final image that better represents what the room actually feels like—keeping detail in the windows while still showing the interior clearly.

So when you hear...
📸 click-click-click...
I’m not taking three identical photos. There’s a purpose behind each one.

And when you see me suddenly swatting at my arm?
That’s just the complimentary spider-web experience. 😂🕸️

The things I do for the shot… 🐍😂

Real estate photography sounds pretty straightforward until the perfect angle requires you to venture into a spot where a snake could absolutely ruin your day.

Do I want the shot? Yes.
Do I also want to know exactly what might be hiding in that grass? Also yes. 😂

But this is part of what happens behind the scenes that you don’t see in the finished gallery. I’m constantly walking the property, looking for different perspectives, and figuring out which angles are going to best showcase the home, land, and everything that comes with it.

Sometimes that means sending up the drone.

Sometimes it means climbing into questionable places.

And apparently sometimes it means mentally preparing myself for a python encounter. 😂

Because when I see the shot… I really want the shot.

No sunset? We’re still going to see what twilight gives us. 🌧️🌅

It had been raining pretty much all day, and by the time we were ready for twilight photos, it was clear we weren't getting one of those dramatic Ohio sunsets.

But a beautiful sunset isn't actually the only reason I stay for twilight.

Even on an overcast evening, there's a short window after sunset when the sky can take on a soft glow and the lights from the home begin to stand out. So instead of packing up, I sent the drone up to see what we could capture.

That's one of the things about actual twilight photography—you can't control the sky. You can plan the timing, watch the weather, choose your angles, and be ready... but ultimately, you work with what nature gives you.

Sometimes it's a fiery sunset.

Sometimes it's a subtle evening glow.

And sometimes you stand outside after a full day of rain hoping the sky gives you just a little something. 😂

Mark Peebles is back with another one and this time we’re at 265 Highland Terrace in Kettering, Ohio!

One of the things I love about creating real estate listing videos is finding the best way to introduce each property. The goal isn’t to simply walk buyers room to room it’s to create content that makes them stop scrolling, gets them interested, and gives the Realtor another way to market the home beyond traditional listing photos.

And if you’ve followed our shoots with Mark Peebles of The Peebles Group at NavX Realty, you already know he’s always willing to jump in front of the camera and have some fun with it. 😂

🎙️ Good social media shouldn’t depend on someone remembering to post that day.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Joey from High Rez Media on the Dayton Business Podcast, and we talked about something I’ve learned firsthand while growing Freshwind Creative: systems matter.

When you’re managing social media for multiple businesses, consistency doesn’t happen by accident. There has to be a strategy behind the content, a process for planning it, and systems that make sure the client continues to feel supported month after month.

Because social media management isn’t just about creating a pretty graphic or posting a Reel.

It’s about understanding the business, building trust with their audience, staying consistent, and creating content that actually supports their goals.
