Using multiple platforms to convey a message has been part of my advertising philosophy for my entire career. For many reasons, including that people learn differently.
And for a while, we talked about how to integrate traditional and digital media. The convergence of those media has blurred the lines to where we no longer think in terms of digital and traditional. We just think objective, target audience, tactics.
Television can be broadcast, cable, streaming or online video. But it is still sight, sound and motion. Billboards are digital screens. Radio is podcasts, streaming or over the air. People move between these platforms and never consider if they are digital or traditional.
As marketers, we need to embrace omnichannel marketing. Find the platforms that will build reach, amplify our message and generate leads.
We know that prospects travel a non-linear path to conversion. Use the tactics that will most efficiently move them along that path and forget the labels.
I explain how we do that in my latest blog on the Metro Valley Advertising website: The Convergence of Traditional and Digital Media.
