3rd3rd Marketing

3rd3rd Marketing 3rdThird Marketing is a values-driven company that helps senior living communities excel.

We work for a double bottom line: driving lead generation that moves the census needle and combatting ageism in communication to older adults. Founded in 2012 as a national aging services branding agency called 3rdThird Marketing, Culinary Coach was added in 2017 to enhance dining operations at senior living communities. The newly expanded company has re-branded as 3rdPlus and has added two additi

onal divisions to its portfolio: Community Coach, and SparksPlus, which add life enrichment, education and executive coaching to its portfolio.

The oldest Gen Xers will reach their early 60s this year.

Let that one sink in for a minute.

The generation senior living has been talking about as the next market isn’t nearly as far away as it once sounded. That’s because Gen X is already thinking about retirement, and bringing a different set of expectations with them.

On September 10, 3rd3rd’s Amy Estridge will be at the Marketing Symposium Carolinas in Charlotte presenting “Winning the Next Market: Gen X Retirement.”

Amy will explore how Gen X researches options, decides who to trust and makes decisions, along with practical ways the senior living industry can rethink its messaging for this often misunderstood generation.

Will you be in Charlotte? Connect with Amy onsite or reach out at [email protected].

PRESS ALERT: Another great story earned. 📰

Our PR team is excited to see 3rd3rd client Hillcrest featured in McKnight’s Senior Living for an innovation that deserves industry attention.

Moving to a senior living community is a big transition. Moving from one level of care to another can be, too. So Hillcrest asked a smart question:
Why should residents and their families have to figure out who to turn to at every step?

Their answer is the Community Navigator. They created a role designed to give residents and families one consistent point of contact as needs change. The Navigator coordinates with the care team, answers questions and helps make transitions easier to understand and navigate.

It’s a great example of what happens when communities listen to what people actually want and rethink the experience around them.

And it's exactly the kind of story our PR team loves to uncover and tell.

Congratulations to Hillcrest on the well-deserved coverage, and for continuing to push the senior living experience forward.

Have an innovation the industry should know about? Our PR team is always looking for a great story: [email protected].

Today, we're celebrating two things we care deeply about: Women's Equality Day and National Dog Day.

Coincidence? Maybe. Perfect pairing? Absolutely.

At 3rd3rd, we're proudly woman-owned and woman-led. In fact, nearly every member of our team is a woman. Today is a reminder that while women make up 50.9% of the population, we still don't see that reflected in many of the rooms where the biggest decisions are made.

We can't help but wonder what the world might look like if leadership reflected the people it serves? Would we see different priorities? Different conversations? Perhaps more investment in children, older adults and the social services that help communities thrive. Maybe even a little more collaboration, and a little less conflict. Maybe more balanced representation.

We're grateful to work alongside brilliant, compassionate women every day who prove that leadership and empathy are powerful partners.

And yes, we also love our dogs. 🐶

So we're perfectly happy sharing today with our four-legged coworkers, walking buddies and unofficial wellness coaches. In fact, if you're headed to LeadingAge National, keep an eye out—you just might find 3rd3rd and our pups there, too.

Happy Women's Equality Day. Happy National Dog Day. Here's to strong women, good dogs and making aging living better.

FRESH EYES (plural noun)
Definition: A new, objective perspective that can reveal opportunities others may have overlooked.

Sometimes, the biggest opportunities are hiding in plain sight.

When you have been immersed in your own marketing for months, or even years, it can often be difficult to really see what’s working, what’s not performing and what could be holding your community back. That is where a fresh perspective can make all the difference.

3rd3rd’s Fresh Eyes Marketing Review takes a comprehensive look at your marketing plan, website, digital strategy and more. We help identify overlooked opportunities, celebrate what is already working and make recommendations to help strengthen your organization.

Whether you are looking to increase your ROI on your marketing spends, increase occupancy or attract younger independent living prospects, Fresh Eyes delivers an honest assessment with actionable next steps.

The senior living consumer has changed. Has your marketing?

Today’s prospective residents are starting their research earlier, asking different questions and looking for communities that reflect the way they see themselves. That means marketing strategies that have worked in the past may no longer be enough.

In our latest blog, we explore the marketing blind spots that can impact occupancy over time, and the opportunities communities have to best connect with today’s consumers.

It might be time to let a set of fresh eyes look at your marketing plan.

If you wanted to know where the future of aging was being reimagined this week, AgingIN was the place to be.

And in the middle of all the big ideas, one of the most memorable moments came from the Second Verse Choir.

Made up of people living with dementia and their care partners, the choir took the stage and challenged one of the most persistent assumptions about aging: that life somehow gets smaller as we get older.

It doesn’t have to.

There is so much life still to live, memories to cherish, friends to meet, meaningful contributions to make and so much more to discover along the way.

That is the kind of future we want to help build at 3rd3rd Marketing, and it’s why our partnership with AgingIN matters to us. Changing aging isn’t only about introducing new ideas. It’s about changing what people believe is possible in the first place.

The Second Verse Choir is doing exactly that through music, and their story reached beyond the AgingIN stage this week when Denver’s 9NEWS featured the choir.

We’re proud to partner with AgingIN and help elevate the people, ideas and stories pushing aging forward. Learn more about AgingIN here: https://aginginnovation.org/.

What a joy it is when two friends share a meaningful project and a belief that they can make a difference.

We are proud to celebrate the release of A Good Life Anywhere, a new eBook co-authored by our CEO, Cynthia Thurlow, and eldercare advocate and long-term care ombudsman, Beverly Gianna.

Despite coming from different professional backgrounds, Cynthia and Beverly share a passion for helping older adults live with dignity, choice and purpose. Their decades-long friendship, combined with both work and life experience, inspired them to create a guide that empowers older adults and their families to make informed decisions about care, quality of life and community.

A Good Life Anywhere explores the wide range of senior living options and offers practical guidance on planning, advocacy and confidently navigating the aging journey.

Congratulations to Cynthia and Beverly on this achievement and for creating a valuable resource that will help so many people.🎉

On National Parents’ Day, we honor the incredible parents, grandparents and family caregivers in our community.

For senior living marketers, this day is an important reminder that adult children accounted for around one-third of marketing inquiries in 2025.

That being said, the best way to communicate to the adult child is by communicating first to the parent. Curious to know more? Check out our website and schedule a chat with a 3rd3rd expert today at 3rd3rd.com.
