I'll be honest, I never really had a vision for this little business. Maybe I was too scared to dream big? All I knew was that I wanted to design logos, build websites, and help other businesses thrive with their marketing. That part has always come naturally to me. I never stopped to think about my long-term goals. I kept moving forward. I guess you could say I'm not a great business owner, at least not in the planning sense of things.

So every now and then I step back and look at how far I've come. This little idea has grown beyond my wildest dreams, but not without grit, effort, a few tears, and a lot of hard work. Above all, I give God the glory. None of this happened without Him.

Being a small business owner is not for the faint of heart. Well-intentioned people can be cruel and condescending. Competition can be fierce and cutthroat. And to succeed, your brain pretty much always has to be on the business, especially in those early days.

So next time you're visiting a small business, give them a word of encouragement. Leave them a Google review. Or buy something from them. We're the backbone of this country, and staying here takes everything we've got.

School's back in session, which means Off-Center Design HQ has been reclaimed and returned to its regularly scheduled chaos. This is the week I finally get ahead on everything. I can feel it. (I cannot feel it, but I'm saying it out loud so the universe hears me.)

There’s something incredibly satisfying about answering an “urgent” email with... “Already done.” 😏

Last week, I ran website maintenance first thing in the morning and updated a whole batch of plugins across our clients’ websites.
A couple of hours later, a client forwarded us one of those “This plugin needs to be updated ASAP!” emails from WooCommerce and asked if there was anything she needed to do.

My response? “Nope! We took care of that this morning.”

Then the exact same thing happened with two other clients.

That’s exactly why website maintenance matters. The goal isn’t just fixing problems, it’s preventing them before they become your problem in the first place!

Just like that... another Washington Town & Country Fair is in the books!

What a week it was! From seeing this year’s branding all over the fairgrounds to watching our community come together for one of Washington’s favorite traditions, it was so much fun to be a small part of it all.

A huge thank you to the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce, the Fair Board, the countless volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who works behind the scenes to make Fair Week happen. Pulling off an event of this size is no small feat, and you did it again.

Congratulations on another successful fundraiser and another incredible year of celebrating our community.

Now... who’s already counting down to next year?

One of my favorite things is when a client stops thinking of us as "the marketing people" and starts treating us like we're part of the team.

Those are the relationships where the magic tends to happen.

We've worked with one client for years, steadily growing their social media along the way. But every now and then they'll say, "Go for it," and let us run with one of our slightly crazy ideas... and that's when things get really fun!

One of those ideas has brought 32,000+ views to their page in just the past few weeks.

To put that into perspective, Franklin County has about 52,000 people.

Thirty-two thousand sets of eyes on one local business. 🤯

Social media isn't about going viral. It's about building momentum, earning trust, and sometimes having the courage to try something a little different.

So here's to the clients who let us in the door, trust the process, and occasionally let us chase the crazy ideas... because sometimes those are the ones that work the best.

We have a little hometown brag to make. 😊 Every year, Annie has the privilege of helping with graphic design for the Washington Town & Country Fair in one way or another, but getting to create the official fair logo and branding is always extra special.

This year’s theme, Rooted in Tradition, was such a fun one to bring to life, and seeing it pop up on everything from t-shirts and brochures to magnets, signage, and around the fairgrounds has been incredibly rewarding.

A huge thank you to the Fair Board and everyone involved for trusting Off-Center Design with such an important piece of one of our community’s biggest traditions. It’s an honor we definitely don’t take for granted.
