Fast-growing service firms offered 40% fewer services than firms with no growth at all.

That comes from the Hinge Research Institute's 2017 study of more than 500 firms. The same study found high-growth firms were 22% more likely to be highly specialized. Saying less, to fewer people, showed up again and again among the firms that grew.

A big prospect list can feel like a big opportunity.

When the list covers dentists, lawyers, contractors and machine shops, the message has to fit all of them. So it ends up saying something like "reliable IT support for growing businesses." That line could come from any IT company, and owners archive it in seconds.

A narrower list lets your message name a real problem the reader recognizes.

Let Managed Prospecting System help you narrow yours on a 22-minute pipeline review.

“No soliciting” and “We’re tired of hiding the bodies.”

Found this hunting in North Dakota, 20 miles from civilization.

Marking this prospect as “happy with current marketing agency.” 😂

A message written for any kind of business ends up speaking to no one in particular.

A dentist and a machine shop owner worry about completely different things. One pitch cannot reach both of them, so it reaches neither. Buyers expect better than that, too. Salesforce found that 73% of buyers expect companies to understand their unique needs.

Try this quick test on your own outreach. Finish the line "We help ___ with ___" in one sentence.

In our own campaigns, the guest invitation follows one firm rule: it leaves out IT and anything we sell. It simply asks an owner to come on a short show and talk about how they built their company.

That small change is what keeps it from reading like another pitch.

Managed Prospecting System will show you the invitation on a 22-minute pipeline review.

Justin Neagle learned this one firsthand.

Earlier in his career, he kept pushing marketing tactics harder when the real problem was the message and the audience.

More activity made things look productive.

It did not make the strategy better.

Today, Justin starts somewhere else:

Who are we serving?
What problems do they actually feel?
What experience should they have?

Then choose the tactics.

People spend 30 to 40 percent of their speech talking about their own experiences. Harvard researchers measured it, and found people will even give up money for the chance to talk about themselves.

That's why a business owner who ignores your pitch will often say yes to an interview.

Put that to work with Managed Prospecting System. Book a 22-minute pipeline review.

Business owners ignore IT pitches. Many of them will still say yes to an interview about how they built their company.

That's the whole idea behind a guest-first show: invite the owners you want as clients, talk about their business, and keep IT out of the invitation entirely. The relationship starts on their terms.

Joshua Holmes has watched plenty of smart people plan themselves into doing nothing.

More research.
More scenarios.
More meetings.
More reasons to wait.

At some point, you have to admit you cannot predict everything and make the move.

Joshua joined us to talk about 16 years of building businesses, data centers, AI, focus, and why project management and communication can sometimes matter more to clients than the technical work itself.

Interesting lesson: his clients were willing to pay more when dedicated project managers made the experience better.
