Ter nagedagtenis aan Portchie
13 November 1963 - 12 Junie 2026

Portchie was een van my geliefkoosde kunstenaars. Sy helder kleure het my altyd laat d**k: as die lewe maar net so eenvoudig en mooi kon wees soos die wêreld wat hy op doek geskep het.

Ek het hom eendag gebel net om dankie te sê vir sy kuns wat my diep geraak het. Hy was vriendelik, nederig en opreg dankbaar. Ek het hom gevra of hy vir my 'n kwotasie kon gee op 'n 5x5 meter skildery. Sy antwoord was eenvoudig: dit is te groot, maar ek kon sy werk vergroot en daarmee doen wat ek wou. Ek het nooit daardie droom aangepak nie, maar sy woorde het my altyd bygebly.

Potchie sal onthou word as iemand wat die lewe met kleur, vreugde en liefde aangepak het. Sy kuns het mense laat glimlag, laat droom en soms net vir 'n oomblik die wêreld 'n bietjie mooier gemaak.

Oom Potchie, mag jy vandag vir Jesus help om die hemel nog mooier te verf met die kleure wat jy so meesterlik verstaan het.

Dankie vir die inspirasie. Dankie vir die kleur. Dankie vir die nalatenskap.
