The reason people choose you has nothing to do with your logo.

It's you. Your energy. The way you think. The thing you say that no one else says quite like that.

And yet, most brands look like every other business in their industry. Safe colours. Stock images. Language that could belong to anyone.

That's not branding. That's blending.

If your brand looks like everyone else's, it's because you've leaned into the clichés of your industry instead of the thing that actually makes you different.

Pull yourself to the front. Your story, your why, your actual point of view, that's what people are choosing when they choose you.

No one really talks about this part. The behind-the-scenes, nitty-gritty, down and dirty and often not aesthetically pleasing version of growth. The version that ACTUALLY moves your business forward

The decisions
The clarity
The standards you raise

The things you’re willing to look at even when its uncomfortable. Actually especially when its uncomfortable.

Because the biggest shifts/leap/hyper speed tranformations?
They don’t come from surface-level fixes. They come from understanding what you’re actually building and why.

Not as a quick solution
Not as something to “tick off” on that eternal to-do list
But as the thing that gives you clarity

So when you do make changes they actually move you forward.

Professional doesn't have to mean boring.
Personal doesn't have to mean unprofessional.

I see so many established businesses swing too far one way. All polished and credible but completely cold. Or all warm and relatable but hard to take seriously at a higher price point.
The sweet spot is both. At the same time.

Your website can be considered, strategic and credibility-first and still have genuine warmth and wit woven through it. Your socials can be human and community-driven and still reinforce why you're the expert worth hiring.

Same person. Both completely true. Both working together.
The businesses that cut through aren't choosing a lane. They're showing up as the whole person, in the right proportions, in the right places.

I've been having a lot of conversations lately. Q and A sessions, surveys, brand strategies, all with established businesses who are doing brilliant work and still feel like something's off with their brand.

Okay, now real talk.​​​​​​​​

The last few months have been hard. And like a lot of people I know, I got pi**ed off feeling like the only answer was "post more content and cross your fingers."​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So I stopped doing that.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Instead I went out and actually connected. Reached out to my immediate circle. Reconnected with people I hadn't spoken to in ages. Met people I'd never crossed paths with before.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
One such meeting of minds (we bonded over drum & bass music) led to her asking me to speak into their group about branding. I know a lot about branding. A genuinely embarrassing amount. And yet, full freak out moment.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So I did what I always do. i went full geek mode and I went looking for facts.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Surveys. Conversations with collaborators. Q and A sessions. Four brand strategies this year. I paid attention to every question, every hesitation, every "I didn't even know that was the problem."​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
And I realised the insights were too good to sit in a folder waiting for a masterclass.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So I'm sharing them now.​​​​​​​​

When my role was made redundant, I didn’t leave softly. I left with a point to prove. I was determined to show them what they were missing.
That letting me go was a mistake.
So I built a business the only way I knew how at the time. Structured. Polished. High-performing. Very… corporate.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The kind of success that looks good on paper. The kind you can explain easily. The kind that makes sense to other people. And it worked. Clients came in .The business grew. From the outside, it all stacked up.
But the version of success I was chasing? It wasn’t actually mine.
It was borrowed.
Built from an old environment.
Based on expectations I hadn’t questioned yet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Somewhere along the way, things started to shift. What I wanted from my days changed. What mattered changed. What felt like “success” changed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It looks like picking my kids up from school. Putting life before work. Being surrounded by women who get it. Dopamine dressing because I feel like it. And mostly building something that feels calm. Not driven by pressure or proving energy.

Back then, I didn’t even know this version of success existed. Now I wouldn’t build any other way.
