Mid-2026 update: we've cleared $26M+ in attributed client revenue from organic + AI search, up from $20M+ in January. Top thing we learned:

Make SEO decisions from your CRM, not just Google Search Console and Google Analytics.

Most people are dumping GA + GSC into Claude, panicking that traffic is down, then burning tokens "fixing" the wrong things.

Traffic can be down and the business still be up.

Our north star is new customer lifetime value added.

Measuring that north star depends on the client's business.

E.g net new signups, clients, contract value, net sales, upsells and cross-sells etc

That data should live inside your CRM.

H1 2026 vs H1 2025 organic clicks didn't always line up the same way.

AI Mode wasn't even launched in Aus until H2 2025!

On the programmes we measure this way, attributed lifetime value from organic + AI is up on the same half last year.

Because we optimise against new customer lifetime value added, not just the sessions.

See comments for the numbers, plus how you can start improving the success of your SEO efforts by LTV & ROI too.

ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot now answer for a billion people a week. Getting in front of them comes down to one channel almost everyone forgets.

That channel is Bing.

Most businesses ignore it, because Google owns almost all of search.

But Bing's index powers Microsoft Copilot.

If Bing hasn't indexed your page, Copilot has nothing to cite.

ChatGPT leans heavily on Bing too.

The screenshot below is our own Bing Webmaster Tools: 982 Copilot citations in six months, all earned through Bing.

Checking your own is free.

Open Bing Webmaster Tools and import from Google Search Console.

Then see whether your key pages are indexed.

If they are not, Copilot and ChatGPT are answering without you.

In January, LinkedIn ranked 2nd for AI citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode. On Gemini, it doesn't make the top 50 at all.

Both numbers are US, English data, so this isn't a geography quirk.

That January figure measured three AI engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode.

Gemini wasn't one of them.

And Gemini is far from niche, with more than 750 million people asking it questions each month.

The chart below is Ahrefs' June ranking for Gemini.

Ahrefs built it from more than 3 million US search queries.

Reddit leads at 27.5%, then YouTube and Wikipedia.

On Gemini, community answers and reference pages win, not professional feeds.

LinkedIn doesn't appear anywhere in the top 50.

Every AI engine cites a different set of sources.

A site that dominates one can be invisible on the next.

We recently took a specialist professional-services client to the most-cited firm in their field on Gemini.

They went from 4th to 1st in about two months, ahead of much bigger national names.

A blended "top domains in AI" average tells you almost nothing about where your buyers actually see you.

Pick the one engine your customers actually search with.

Then check where your category gets cited there this week.

$1.8M ARR, up from $1.2M a year ago. AI search helped get them there, and for the first quarter it looked like a waste of money.

We run this client's AI SEO.

For the first three months, the reports were quiet.

That is usually when the plug gets pulled.

We kept it running, because that flat stretch is where AI search compounds.

By mid-year it was pulling in people who already knew what they wanted.

By the end of the year, the client had grown from $1.2M to $1.8M in annual recurring revenue.

AI search was one contributor here, alongside the client's own work on sales, product and pricing.

But a full year of compounding visibility was a real lever behind that growth.

This is the pattern we see with the clients we run.

The first quarter tests your patience.

The full year is where it pays.

So judge AI SEO on its twelve-month trajectory, and set your target from there.

If you're curious what a year of AI search could do for your recurring revenue, DM me and I'll take a look.

SuperGrok Heavy is the best kept secret in AI. $99 a month: more usage than Claude Max 20x for half the price while being faster and better than Opus.

I was tired of burning out my Claude Max 20x plan a few days after the weekly reset.

So I fired up SuperGrok Heavy on the promo.

$99 a month.

Half the Claude Max 20x money.

SuperGrok Heavy gets you about 1.5 million tokens per dollar.

Claude Max 20x gets you only about 0.6 million.

Roughly 2.5x the tokens for the money.

On raw LLM intelligence benchmarks, Opus often still wins.

In day-to-day use, I often prefer Grok 4.5 anyway.

It is faster.

It is more direct.

I do not have to stress about running out of weekly usage.

That is why "Grok is the dumb option" is a stale take.

If you use AI heavily for work, cost per usable token matters.

Put $200 Claude Max 20x next to $99 SuperGrok Heavy on tokens per dollar.

Then watch what gets you more work done for less.

In January, LinkedIn was the 2nd most cited domain in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode. By June: 23rd on Google AI Overviews.

What changed is the engine doing the citing, not LinkedIn.

Both figures are US, English-language data, so this isn't a geography quirk.

The January ranking came from 325,000 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode.

Google AI Overviews wasn't one of them.

And it's the AI answer the most people actually see, at over 2 billion users a month.

On Google AI Overviews, the sources look nothing like a professional feed.

The chart below is Ahrefs' June ranking for Google AI Overviews, rebuilt in our house style.

Ahrefs built it from more than 3 million US search queries.

YouTube leads at around 21%, then Facebook, Google, Instagram and Wikipedia.

Video, social and reference dominate.

LinkedIn sits 23rd, and Reddit barely features at all.

Each engine cites a different world.

So a blended average tells you almost nothing about where your buyers actually see you.

When we map AI visibility for a client, we check it engine by engine, on the ones their buyers actually use.

So pick the one AI engine your customers actually search with.

Then check where your category gets cited there this week.

It's easy to measure how much traffic AI search sends you. The hard part, and the part that wins budget, is measuring what it's worth.

Most teams can already see AI search in their analytics, the visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews landing in the numbers.

But when leadership asks the one question that matters, "what is it actually worth to us?", the answer is usually a shrug.

So AI search gets filed under "interesting" and loses the budget fight to channels that can show a dollar figure.

That gap is the whole game, and closing it is the first thing we do for a client.

We trace the full path the analytics leaves in pieces, from the AI answer, to the free trial it became, to the customer who paid.

Then we attach the real number to it, straight from the client's own CRM.

Over twelve months, AI SEO produced $589,766 in new customer lifetime value for one SaaS client.

That's an average return of 883%, and the client's own CEO confirmed the numbers as accurate.

Better still, it compounded: the trials, customers and revenue climbed through the year, and the strongest month was the most recent.

One client, but the pattern holds across the clients we manage.

Traced properly, AI search stops being a traffic stat and becomes a revenue line you can defend in a board meeting.

And a channel you can defend is a channel that gets funded.

If you're being asked to prove what AI search is worth to your business, DM me.

I'll show you how we'd measure it on your site.

AI search is meant to be killing organic lead generation. For one client it's quietly outperforming it. Here's why:

Yes, AI often answers the question and takes the click.

So everyone assumes fewer clicks means fewer leads.

But the leads AI does send arrive pre-qualified.

The assistant has already read the reviews and handed the buyer a shortlist.

They reach you halfway to a decision.

We keep seeing the same pattern across the clients we manage.

Since early 2026, AI-referred leads have converted more like warm referrals than cold clicks.

Take one personal injury firm as an example.

An AI-referred enquiry there is far more likely to become a signed client.

About five times more likely than a standard search enquiry.

Same firm, same intake team.

In May, AI sent under a quarter of the enquiries organic did.

It still earned more: $153,600 against $122,000.

And it's growing fast: AI enquiries are up 78% in two months.

Fewer clicks is not the same as fewer clients.

Stop measuring AI search by the clicks it takes.

Start measuring the dollar value of the leads it sends you.

Getting your business named inside those AI answers is what we do for clients.

Want to know if AI is sending you pre-qualified leads, or skipping you?

DM me and I'll take a look.

LinkedIn is now the 2nd most cited domain in AI search. The viral take says post more there. The actual citation engine sits somewhere else.

Recently, a Semrush data study went viral on LinkedIn.

The chart shows LinkedIn at 11.03% citation share across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode, just behind Reddit at 11.29%.

The reaction has been to pour effort into LinkedIn posting.

Here's what almost nobody is checking.

Look at what actually gets cited from LinkedIn: marketing analyses, SaaS architecture breakdowns, B2B founder lessons, legal explainers, and sales playbooks.

It's the kind of original first-hand expertise that gets cited just as readily when it lives on your own website.

We do post on LinkedIn deliberately because it adds brand signal that supports everything else.

But the actual citation engine is the original first-hand insight content on the website.

If you sell SaaS or professional services, the move is to publish more original first-hand insights from your actual work on your own site, with LinkedIn acting as the brand signal around it.

In ecommerce, LinkedIn still works for founder voice, B2B partnerships, and category thought leadership.

For product-query AI visibility specifically, AI cites Reddit, YouTube reviewers and niche forums, so your reviews and category content need a presence on those surfaces too.

What's constant across all of it: AI cites original first-hand expertise about what you actually do, wherever that lives.

Posting more LinkedIn content alone doesn't get you there.

What does your AI citation count look like in SEMrush or Ahrefs right now?

DM me if you want to talk about it.
