I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

Most businesses don’t really have a content problem.

They have a trust problem.

There are 100 realtors who can sell your house.
100 dentists who can clean your teeth.
100 businesses offering basically the same service.

So why does so much business content still feel like an ad?

“Here’s what we do.”
“Here’s why we’re the best.”
“Call us today.”

People just want to know who they’re dealing with.

Show your face. Answer the questions your customers actually ask. Show some behind the scenes. Teach them something useful.

It doesn’t have to be perfect.

Honestly, it probably shouldn’t be.

People trust people, not commercials.

Practice > perfect.

Life lately has been a lot of shooting, editing, flying drones, trying new angles, getting things wrong and doing them again.
Real estate has been a fun one.

Every property forces you to think differently about lighting, movement, composition and how you tell a story without saying much at all.

And every time I shoot, I find something I would’ve done differently the time before.

That’s probably my favorite part of building Magnify Creative.

I’m still learning.

Still experimenting.

Still finding new ways to make ordinary things look a little less ordinary.

No secret formula.

Just keep making s**t.

Then make the next one better.

A $10,000 camera with s**tty lighting is just a really expensive way to shoot s**tty video.

I used to think the camera was the most important part of video production.

It’s not.

A camera records what’s there.

Lighting decides how it feels.

And that’s something we’ve become obsessed with at Magnify Creative.

A CEO. A house. A mechanic. A doctor. A construction site. A product. A training video.

Hell, give us a zookeeper and a giraffe.

We’ll make it worth watching.

The gear is cool.
