When we met at sixteen I do not think either of us could have imagined this. 🥹

Sixteen year old us would have completely lost it, sitting there in school talking absolute nonsense with no idea we would still be doing this all these years later, in a different country, on your birthday 🙈😍

I do not think I have ever properly told you what this friendship means to me and I hope I never have to, because I would much rather just show up. 🤍

Happy birthday my love. I hope you did not see this coming even a little bit and I hope you remember it for a long time.🎀

That was the best few days I have had in ages and I would not have wanted to spend them with anyone else. Here is to a lot more of these, wherever we both end up.

Ask eighteen year old me if she could live 12,000 km away from every single person she loved, and she would have laughed at you. She could not go to the next city without calling home twice.

And here I am. Building a whole life, on my own, and actually happy in it.

Do I miss them? Every single day. But then I think about the good times and I know this is exactly what they wanted for me. Nobody sends their daughter this far away hoping she comes back small.

So yes, I am always a little bit split in two. One part here, one part there, and that is just how it is now. I have stopped treating that like a problem to solve.

But I am proud of myself for getting here. If you are doing this too, you should be proud of yourself as well. People really do not understand what it takes.

Forever a girl who lives in nostalgia.

If you were born in the 90s and you are a Bollywood paglu like me, Bhuwin will get you. One man, one guitar, and he loops it live until it sounds like a whole band is sitting up there with him. But it is the storytelling between the songs that actually does it.

Easily the best two hours I have spent this year.
