I came across this picture of my dad (right) and my grandad playing cricket in Edinburgh around 1965, and it reminded me just how much has changed.

They played for a team in Corstorphine and often played matches at , where today’s international match is taking place.

When I was at school (which wasn’t 65 years ago!), cricket wasn’t really an option for girls. Generally, the boys played rugby in winter and cricket in summer, while girls played hockey in winter and tennis in summer.

Fast forward to today, and it’s fantastic to see women’s cricket thriving on the international stage, with Scotland preparing for this year’s ’s T20 and taking on Bangladesh right here in Stockbridge this afternoon.
