We became 100 percent employee-owned back in 2019, and one of the things that has become clearer with each year since is how directly ownership shapes the quality of the work. When every person on the team has a genuine stake in the outcome of a project, the extra hour on a study comes from conviction, and the attention to detail comes from a place that is difficult to replicate with incentive structures alone. The quality of the work tends to come from the same place the ownership does, which is to say, from inside the building.

At MMR, client data protection has always been built into the way we operate. This year, we are formalizing that commitment by pursuing SOC 2 compliance, which is a rigorous, independent audit of how a firm handles, protects, and manages the data entrusted to it.

For our financial services and enterprise clients, this is the kind of standard that separates research partners who take data stewardship seriously from those who treat it as an afterthought. For us, it is the natural next step in a practice we have been building for over two decades.

The process takes time, and the audit itself is still months out. We will be sharing milestones along the way as the work progresses.

There are a few people at any research firm who hold the kind of client relationships that outlast everything around them, and Paul Neuzil is one of them for us. He has been at MMR for 7 years and in this industry for nearly 40, which means he has been doing this work longer than most of our clients have been in their current roles. A lot of the relationships he built in his first decade are still the ones clients pick up the phone for today.

A group from the team made the trip to Cincinnati to send him off at a Reds game, which is exactly the kind of retirement Paul would choose over a speech or a ceremony. We are grateful for the standard he set here, and the clients and researchers he leaves behind are better for it.
