One of the biggest mistakes gym owners make is creating the offer they want to sell instead of the offer their customer actually wants to buy.
You may want every new lead to purchase a high-ticket program or commit to a full membership immediately.
But thatโs usually not what the customer is ready to buy... at least not yet.
If youโre trying to sell:
โช๏ธA high-ticket transformation package
โช๏ธA long-term commitment
โช๏ธA full-priced membership
โฆbefore the customer has even tried a class, youโre going to fight an uphill battle.
They donโt know your coaches.
They donโt know whether theyโll enjoy the workouts.
They arenโt sure if theyโll feel comfortable in your gym.
And they donโt know if this will finally be something they can stick with.
There's too many unknowns.
So when you ask them to make a large commitment before they trust you, you create unnecessary resistance.
A better approach is to meet them where they are by creating an offer theyโre ready to say yes to with little hesitation.
Give them an easy way to experience your gym through:
โช๏ธA 21-day program
โช๏ธA 28-day trial
โช๏ธFour weeks at an introductory price
โช๏ธA short-term program built around a specific result
This allows them to dip their toes in the water before making a larger commitment.

Just because someone responds to a short-term offer doesnโt mean thatโs the only thing theyโll purchase.
When they come in for their first visit, you can still present your membership options, or prescribe the program you genuinely believe will help them reach their goals.
If theyโre ready to commit immediately, let them.
This is a good process to have in place because about 20% of people will upgrade immediately.
Whether they do often comes down to the first impression you create, the quality of your consultation, and your ability to communicate the value of your program.
You can also give them an incentive to upgrade early by applying their trial payment toward a membership, waiving an enrollment fee, or including a valuable bonus if they join by a certain date.
This is your conversion mechanism: the reason someone transitions from the intro offer into a long-term membership.
โก The short-term offer gets them through the door.
โก Your consultation, coaching, experience, and sales process determine what they purchase next.
If your membership costs more than $100 per month, this type of front-end offer becomes even more important because it reduces the risk of taking that first step.
So remember:
Your ad gets their attention.
Your offer gives them a reason to act.
Your sales process converts.
Create the offer your customer is ready to say yes to today.
Then give them every opportunity **and a compelling reason** to become a member tomorrow.
