Breaking News:
Producer with a disability produces commercial with disabled cast, (only two pedestrians.)
I file this under:
Yes, I am Forrest Gump. (The black one.🙂)
These things have a tendency to hit me way, way after they have happened.
I was featured in the New York Times, and it took me almost two years to get happy about it. (Hahaha!) Another example are covers of magazines, and commercials.
While this fantastic event in my life is happening in real time, on a snowy day, lol, I sit looking out the window- and I am blown away.
You see, about four months ago JanSport approached me; their parent company, Vanity, which includes North Face, Vans, and other apparel, wanted me to produce a commercial that had all persons with disabilities as the principal characters in the commercial for a bag that they had designed.
A line of them, to be exact, are accessible for a person with a disability.
I'm not going to say that producing it was easy- it was some of the hardest work I've ever done.
I always had support from my production company, Listen Productions, but I tried not to lean on them.
I wanted to see if I could do it myself.
And although we really never do anything by ourselves, I'm starting to see the rewards of this effort unfold, right in front of me.
Some of the individuals that you see in this video, it's their first time on camera; and I am literally enjoying their reactions.
I am so happy that I had this opportunity, and hope to have many more. I can honestly say in real time, hell freaking yes, Stewart Tucker Lundy did this.
in full effect.
And thank you so much to Jansport, for the opportunity. I hope to work with you again. Also, to all cinematographer and directors; this was a fantastic journey.
And to the cast members, this is only just the beginning for you.
