Phase two. Paint is where these signs start to speak again.
Once the aluminum was machined, each sign in “We’re Already Here” got its color from the bold, urgent palette of the original protest signs from AIDS-era demonstrations in the 80s and 90s, brought back after being fabricated in permanent form.

These signs were never meant to last. Cheap paper, plywood, marker — carried once, then gone. Davis Sign was honored to fabricate the permanent versions for “We’re Already Here” at The AMP in Seattle, designed by Civilization Design — rendering protest signs from real AIDS-era demonstrations in aluminum and set in concrete so their messages endure.
This is the first in a series showing that process, starting in our shop.

Several years ago, we came up with a Washington state big foot design as a logo for Davis Sign T-shirts. It has been a hit ever since, expanding to decals for customers and employees. Mimaki cutting plotter still hard at work.
