Big congratulations are in order for two of our PRAM Central student members, Adam Wolfe and Makaiyla Wilson, who have officially earned their Certificate in Principles of Public Relations! 🎉

And this one deserves some serious recognition. Earning the Certificate goes well beyond completing coursework. Candidates must meet eligibility requirements, complete a formal preparatory course and pass an examination administered by the Universal Accreditation Board, the same organization that administers the APR credential for practicing professionals. The exam evaluates knowledge across core areas of the profession, with particular emphasis on the four-step public relations process and ethics.

We are incredibly proud to have Adam and Makaiyla as part of PRAM Central and even more excited to see where they take their careers from here. Congratulations on a well-earned accomplishment! 👏

There’s a lot more to a successful event than what happens in the room.

At PRAM Central’s August meeting, Gavin Snyder of Gavin Snyder Events shared how strategic event planning can turn an experience into something much bigger: an opportunity to build relationships, strengthen a brand and move business goals forward.

From creating meaningful touchpoints before and after an event to understanding your audience, measuring ROI and using technology to personalize the experience, Gavin reminded us that every detail should have a purpose.

Our biggest takeaway? In the business of events, it’s not just about the experience. It’s about the impact.

Thank you, Gavin, for sharing your expertise with PRAM Central and giving us plenty to think about as communicators, planners and professionals!

Don’t worry, we left a couple in the store so you can get some too 😉

Friendly reminder that we’re collecting travel-size toothpaste for the Youth Detention Intervention Program, and after the meeting, we’ll stick around to turn those donations into care bags.

So grab a few tubes on your way over, bring them with you tomorrow (Wed, Aug 26th), and stay after if you can to help us pack!

A little deodorant + a little time = a big impact💝

At our next PRAM Central Chapter Meeting on Wednesday, August 26th, we’re collecting travel-size solid deodorant for the Baptist Children’s Village & Family Ministries Youth Detention Intervention Program.

This is part of our summer-long service project to provide essential hygiene items for youth in detention facilities across Mississippi. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference.

Some conversations stick with you long after they end, and this month’s PRAM Central meeting was one of them.

We spent the morning hearing from Courtney Ann Jackson, Adam Ganucheau and David Kenney as they pulled back the curtain on what media relations looks like from both sides. The conversation covered everything from shrinking newsrooms and impossible deadlines to the rise of LinkedIn, Reels and TikTok, but one message kept coming up: relationships matter.

The best media relationships are built long before a crisis. The strongest stories lead with impact and the people behind them. And even in today’s nonstop news cycle, thoughtful communication still makes a difference.

Thank you to our incredible panelists for sharing your experiences so openly and to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion. We love seeing our community come together to learn from one another, and we’re already looking forward to next month.

One of the most rewarding parts of the Southern Public Relations Federation Annual Conference is celebrating the incredible work happening across our profession.

Each year, the conference gives us the opportunity to recognize excellence both individually and collectively. From the Lantern Awards that honor outstanding strategic work, to celebrating new APRs, SPRF Hall of Fame inductees, Senior Practitioners, Young Practitioners, and the recipient of the Professional Achievement Award (SPRF's highest individual honor), it's a chance to recognize the communicators making a difference across the Southeast.

Join us in Tuscaloosa, September 20–22, as we learn, connect, and celebrate our profession together.
