Over the past 15 years, we've had the honor and privilege to work with a team of courageous freedom fighters, and as part of our Fighting for 15 anniversary, we're spending this year spotlighting the people who've helped build our legacy of creative work in service of justice.

People like Halle Coleman, who says her time at FCG has shaped how she leads with empathy in every role since.

At Mississippi Power, Halle spent three years on the internal communications team focused on employee and executive communications, and is now moving into a new role on the external team covering social media and customer research.

She says her biggest takeaway from FCG was learning to keep equity top of mind, and that good decisions consider not just what a client or company wants, but how the work affects the customers and communities it serves.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. To fight for freedom, you need a team of freedom fighters. We’ve been spotlighting the people who’ve helped build our legacy of creative that works as part of our Fighting for 15 anniversary, and we’re thrilled to introduce you to Vaiden Alderwoman Willette Thomas.

While at FCG, Willette served in multiple leadership roles and built connections with teammates and clients she still treasures today. She says she’s carried the six C’s—courage, cleverness, compassion, creativity, curiosity, and communication—into both her professional and political career.

In addition to serving her constituents, Willette serves as the executive coordinator for one of our longest-standing clients, the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy. Willette has spent the past year investing in her own growth as a leader, completing the Mississippi Black Leadership Institute, the inaugural P.I.L.L.A.R. Leadership Institute at Mississippi State University, the inaugural Southern Poverty Law Center Democracy in Training Cohort, and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute’s Political Bootcamp.

To fight for freedom, you need a team of freedom fighters. As part of our 15th anniversary celebration, we’re spotlighting FCG alumni: the people who have helped build our legacy of creative work in service of justice.

Kerry Nash spent five years with FCG before stepping into a career built on civic leadership. Since leaving, Kerry has graduated from the Mississippi Black Leadership Institute, the Congressional Black Caucus Institute Political Leadership Bootcamp, the Southern Poverty Law Center's Advocacy Institute, and the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy’s Civic Engagement Collective.

Now, Kerry is the communications director at Mississippi Engaged and says FCG opened doors to knowledge and opportunity that shaped him in ways he's still discovering. And this year, he's celebrating something even bigger: he's getting married! (Shout out to Meg 💍)

Congratulations, Kerry. We’re fighting alongside you for the next 15.

People like Anissa Hidouk.

Anissa joined FCG while on a student visa, navigating a complicated transition in her immigration status. While at FCG, Anissa supported projects advancing women's health and social justice, and she taught us about the plight of Palestinians in the West Bank, a presentation that ranks near the top in the agency’s history.

Now, Anissa is a photographer based in Paris, France, and she says the way she approaches people and storytelling in her work today still traces back to her time in Jackson. You can check out some of Anissa's current work at https://www.anissahidvisuals.com/.

We invite you to join us to celebrate during our 15th anniversary art exhibition this Friday, April 17, from 4 pm to 7 pm at The Orchid Bed and Breakfast (628 N. State Street).
