Most yearly planning advice starts with your goals. That's backwards.
Here's the thing: the tools you pick in advance decide whether those goals survive past February. Ask anyone who swore they'd finally get organized, then spent March exporting spreadsheets to get one straight answer.
Plan the tools before you plan the goals.
How to create a yearly planner that actually fits: start with the work you do every week, not the app everyone else loves. Then ask what it'll cost you in hours when it breaks, not just in dollars per month. "Everything takes 20 extra steps to complete" is a tool problem, and no habit tracker fixes it.
So before 2026 shows up, look at the stack you're carrying into it. The one quietly draining time and budget is usually the one you stopped noticing.
