One of the biggest leadership lessons I've learned over the years:

People rarely remember your title.

They remember how you treated them.

They remember:
• whether you listened
• whether you helped them grow
• whether you kept your word
• whether you gave them opportunities
• whether you believed in them when they doubted themselves

Leadership isn't about being the smartest person in the room.

It's about helping others become their best.

As I've reflected on my own career, the moments I'm most proud of aren't tied to revenue goals, promotions, awards, or business growth.

They're the people.

The employee who became a leader.

The student who found confidence.

The athlete who discovered what they were capable of.

The client who transformed their business.

The connection that changed someone's life or career.

That's the kind of impact that lasts.

I recently shared some thoughts on leadership, influence, and building trust through thought leadership:

I'd love to hear from you:

Who is a leader that made a positive impact on your life, and what did they do that you still remember today?

Leadership lessons rarely come from textbooks.

They come from real life.

Coaching a team through adversity.

Helping someone gain confidence.

Watching a leader handle pressure the right way.

Or sometimes the wrong way.

Over the years I started writing down the small insights that came from those moments.

That collection eventually became The Leadership Lift.

A weekday leadership email built around one simple idea:

Grow a little every day.

If you enjoy practical leadership ideas you can apply immediately, you might enjoy it.

One of the most dangerous phrases in business is:

"We'll figure it out when we get there."

The organizations that consistently outperform their competitors don't predict the future better.

They prepare for multiple futures better.

Right now, leadership teams are navigating:

• AI disruption
• Economic uncertainty
• Rising customer acquisition costs
• Hiring and retention challenges
• Changing consumer behavior
• Competitive pressure

The question isn't whether change is coming.

The question is whether you're prepared when it arrives.

One exercise I often recommend is building three business scenarios:

✅ Best Case
✅ Expected Case
✅ Pressure Case

Then ask:

"What decisions would we make differently in each situation?"

Most companies wait until they're under pressure to start planning.

By then, options are usually more limited.

I recently shared a practical guide to scenario planning and why it's becoming one of the most important leadership disciplines today:

https://strategyrecheck.com/scenario-planning/

Question:

What is the biggest uncertainty your organization is preparing for over the next 12 months?

Uncertainty is no longer an occasional disruption in business it is the operating environment. Scenario planning gives leaders a practical way to prepare for

I've always believed that leadership is less about directing people and more about removing obstacles.

Too often, leaders think their job is to have all the answers.

I disagree.

A leader's real job is to:

• Create clarity when things are confusing.
• Build confidence when people doubt themselves.
• Remove barriers that slow progress.
• Connect people to opportunities.
• Help others become more successful than they thought possible.

The best leaders I've worked with weren't the loudest people in the room.

They were the people who made everyone around them better.

Whether I've been leading marketing teams, coaching athletes, mentoring students, serving nonprofits, or helping businesses grow, that lesson has remained constant.

Leadership isn't about being in front.

It's about helping others move forward.

Question:

What's the best leadership lesson you've learned from someone else?
