The way your customers find you has changed. Most business owners haven't caught up yet.
It used to be simple. Someone searched Google, saw a list of websites, and clicked one.
Today, AI-powered search works differently.
Instead of just showing links, AI reads your website, evaluates your content, and decides which businesses are worth recommending.
If your website hasn't been updated in months, has thin or outdated content, or doesn't clearly explain what you do, who you help, and where you work, AI is far less likely to recommend your business.
So what should your website include?
✔ Updated service pages that accurately reflect what you offer
✔ Clear descriptions of who you serve and the problems you solve
✔ Location-specific content if you serve particular cities or regions
✔ Fresh blog posts, FAQs, case studies, or project updates that demonstrate expertise
✔ Consistent contact information and business details across your site
✔ Schema markup (structured data) that clearly identifies your business, services, locations, reviews, and other key information for search engines and AI systems
✔ Fast loading, mobile-friendly pages with a strong user experience
AI isn't looking for the oldest website or even the biggest company.
It's looking for the clearest, most relevant, and most trustworthy answer.
This shift isn't coming it's already here.
The businesses treating their website as a living marketing asset will continue earning recommendations. Those treating it like a one-time project will become increasingly invisible.
