When children aren’t acting like themselves, or they’re consistently “acting out,” it can be a sign of child abuse. Approaching the topic with children may be daunting, but you don’t need to know exactly what to do — you just need to have the conversation. Project Harmony's child advocacy experts know how to help.

What started off as a need for an awareness campaign evolved into a new way for people to engage with the organization. After interviewing several Project Harmony therapists and conducting secondary research on similar campaigns, we determined that messaging needed to be simple, memorable, actionable and applicable to any of Project Harmony’s programs or services. The result: See. Talk. Act.

The message has been embraced internally at Project Harmony, and is the centerpiece of a digital media awareness campaign to achieve its original purpose: to increase awareness of the signs of child abuse, teach adults how to have tough conversations and encourage action when needed.

See the signs. Talk with children. Act and connect with Project Harmony. Learn how you can be a safe adult for the children in your life at ProjectHarmony.com/Act.

That’s a wrap on the third annual Reignite2Unite Omaha Development Symposium! 💥 We’ve loved working with Front Porch Investments, Spark and Omaha Municipal Land Bank to grow awareness of this unique, impactful event.

This year, our team was proud to provide expanded communications support — developing key messaging, additional brand elements, event swag, promotional emails, social media content and earned media stories in addition to day-of social, news media management and photography/videography coordination.

It was inspiring being among so many individuals working in the housing ecosystem who are eager to connect, collaborate and share their expertise to build a more prosperous future for all. Stay connected to Front Porch Investments, Spark CDI and Omaha Municipal Land Bank to keep up with transformative work in the Omaha metro all year. 🏘️

Over the past two years, We Make Omaha has been engaging the community to shape our city’s next 25-year plan for growth and development. Now, that input has produced four possible scenarios for our future — and there’s still time to explore them this weekend at the Future Lab in Aksarben!

Emspace had the incredible privilege to develop the We Make Omaha brand, empowering their team to implement it across materials and tactics. We loved seeing its continued application in an innovative setting while providing feedback on Omaha’s future.

Great reporting today from Jeremy Turley, Flatwater Free Press and The Reader on the vision and future Omaha's modern streetcar makes possible for our downtown. Our team loves the idea of a more connected, accessible and vibrant city. Bike Walk Nebraska Omaha Streetcar Authority

City planners and walkability advocates hope the modern streetcar could undo the car-centric urban planning of the 50s and bring new life into downtown.

Last week, Empace hosted our insightful and inspiring IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accountability) consultant, Angela Cooper of Mindpower Strategic, for an update on the evolving business, legal and cultural IDEA landscape.

As part of Emspace’s ongoing commitment to IDEA, we typically have Angela present and facilitate workshops with our team a few times each year. To expand the impact of her expertise, we invited a few from our network of changemakers to the presentation to collectively learn and discuss examples and strategies for supporting IDEA in our work and workplace.

Thank you to Angela Cooper, our Emspace team and our clients who made time to convene, learn and share their knowledge, experiences and ideas!

Mental health is more complex than many of us realize. Our social connections, physical health, emotional resilience, intellectual fulfillment, occupational satisfaction, financial stability, physical environment and sense of purpose all weave together to benefit or deplete our overall wellness.

Community Alliance understands this complexity and meets it with comprehensive services. As part of our communications work with the Community Alliance team, we develop rich blog content each month that highlights these services, features their mental health experts and shares individuals’ success stories.

This month’s blog for Mental Health Awareness Month is especially relevant to anyone who wants to build mental wellness habits. It includes advice for when to seek professional help and reflection questions to regularly take stock of your mental health, including:

• What is the quality of my relationships and connections?
• Do I have a good sense of my own self-concept and worth?
• What did I do today that helped me feel physically better or take care of myself physically?
• Did I spend time in nature?
• Did I connect with other people who are healthy for me?

Did you know you can access 17 miles of well-maintained trails, a half-acre, naturalistic playscape, a raptor refuge and a one-mile boardwalk just 15 minutes from downtown Omaha? Last year, we partnered with Fontenelle Forest to remind our community that nature is near through digital and social ad campaigns.

Our ad messaging focused on “a Forest for everyone,” coinciding with the reopening of Acorn Acres and an ongoing commitment by Forest staff to make nature feel more welcoming to people of all ages, abilities and hiking skills. This creative approach delivered strong results:

⬆️ 71% increase in unique visits to the Forest’s membership webpage and 67% to the visit webpage
⬆️ 10% increase in online admissions
👆 1.47% average engagement rate across all social platforms, nearly 3x the industry standard for nonprofit social ads

Our 2026 campaign just launched, and we can’t wait to see its results! You don’t have to wait to be influenced by a digital ad, though. Visit Fontenelle Forest and purchase a membership today at FontenelleForest.org.

What does high-quality childcare look like? Not so different from a video shot list! We’re producing and editing a new video in partnership with Step Up to Quality to teach parents how to recognize quality when touring potential childcare facilities and meeting providers. Shout out to our videography partner, Kenny Moreno, for another great collaboration.

Quality indicators include:

🧩 Well-organized, easily accessible toys and materials
👧🏻 Displays at children’s eye level
🌱 Nature indoors and outdoors
🧸 Soft furnishings and cozy areas
👥 Staff interacting with children at their level
🎶 Staff dancing/playing musical instruments with children
✚ and so much more!

We love helping more parents and providers in our state understand the importance of high-quality early childhood education. Follow Nebraska Step Up to Quality for more research-backed tips.
