Today along with many in our country we're taking a moment to reflect and remember those that gave their lives in service. We also remember the families and communities that stood and stand behind them and continue a legacy of courage. Here's to creating a tomorrow that we are proud to remember together.

Today, May 5, is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives, part of a national movement to bring light to the heightened level of violence Native women face, up to 10x the national murder rate on some reservations. Law enforcement and justice are often lacking or absent for these victims and survivors.

As a Native woman-owned business, we're particularly intent on helping amplify this movement. Awareness is the first step to bringing a consciousness and culpability to our legal systems, so we can make it work for those with the least power, not against them. We're happy to mention the launch of our partnership with two new clients in the Pillar Health Group: Trellis and Pacific Opportunities. These local companies work with clients with disabilities to support meaningful integration into the community and long-term job opportunities. We're excited to help present and connect these important businesses with clients who will truly benefit from their services.

Congrats to the Winterhawks on another successful season, wrapping up half a century of WHL hockey here in Portland. The Royle Media team had a great year of advertising partnership (and some good fun at the Glass Palace!). Looking forward to next year already.

We're excited to announce our new client, the Monterey Jazz Festival!

The Royle Media team has an extensive background in digital media and advertising for festivals and large events, AND our media manager is kind of a huge jazz nerd 🎷 ... so we're really looking forward to helping connect music lovers to this longstanding three-day event in beautiful coastal California.

In celebration of Women's History Month, we're highlighting Hattie Kauffman, the first Native American reporter on broadcast national news. A member of the Nez Perce tribe, Hattie spent two decades at CBS and reported and anchored at KING 5 News in Seattle. Her work also earned her four Emmy Awards.

As a Native and woman-owned agency, we like to commemorate pioneers and firsts in media, especially those whose trailblazing continues to widen the industry landscape with a diversity of voices. Happy Women's History Month!

Happy Black History Month! As an agency and media business, we wanted to highlight one of the first black-owned and operated newspapers in the U.S. — Freedom's Journal, established the same year slavery was abolished in New York, 1827. By the beginning of the Civil War in 1861, more than 40 black-owned and operated papers had been established throughout the country. We celebrate these courageous efforts of communication and appreciate the hard work and risks taken to pave the way for freedom of the press today.
