Mel booked his first keynote speaking gig within days of launching his new brand. One email, one website visit, two days later β€” they said yes. And that single opportunity more than covered everything he invested with Red Door Stories.

Here's the thing about Mel. He spent 35 years as a corporate fixer. He had more expertise than most people could ever dream of. But when it came to marketing himself as a thought leader and author, he was stuck. Not because he didn't know what he did β€” he just couldn't package it in a way that made sense to anyone on the outside.

Once he stopped trying to figure it out alone and trusted a proven process, everything fell into place faster than he expected.

"When Kris said, 'I have a formula, if you'll follow it,' I did. It worked. And that was so refreshing."

If your messaging isn't doing the work it should be, let's fix that. Book a Money-Making Messaging Call at reddoorstories.com and let's build something that works from day one.

StoryBrand isn't a design trend. It's a framework built on the way humans have responded to stories for thousands of years.

Every compelling story follows the same structure. There's a hero with a problem they don't know how to solve. They find a guide who understands them, gives them a plan, and calls them to action. That action leads them to success and helps them avoid failure.

When all of those elements are present and working together on your website, it stops feeling like a brochure and starts feeling like a story your visitor wants to be part of. That's when your website starts doing the work of getting you clients.

Telling potential clients you're different from other coaches is easy. Showing them is what actually works.

An infographic on your website does something words alone can't. It lets a visitor see your methodology at a glance, understand how the pieces fit together, and feel the difference between you and everyone else in your space without having to read through paragraphs to get there.

For my client Heidi, we built a Venn diagram showing the three elements that come together in her work: authentic connection, strategic guidance, and real-world wisdom. Where they overlap is the joyful mother-son relationship her clients are after. In one visual, her entire approach is clear and her differentiation is obvious.

That's what a well-designed infographic can do for your website.

Your potential client wants help. But their brain needs to believe the path forward is simple before it will let them say yes.

That's what a three-step plan on your website does. It takes the overwhelm off the table. It shows your visitor exactly what happens when they reach out, what working with you looks like, and most importantly, what their life looks like on the other side.

Step three should always be the result they actually want. Not a deliverable. Not a feature of your program. The real, specific, happy ending. When their brain can see that the end is possible and closer than they thought, the decision to book a call gets a lot easier to make.

The most powerful website copy you'll ever write isn't something you make up.

It's something you listen for. Think about the last discovery call you were on. What did your potential client say they were struggling with? What words did they use? What did they keep coming back to? That's your problem section.

When a visitor lands on your page and reads their own struggle described back to them clearly and specifically, something shifts. They stop browsing and start paying attention. They feel seen. And a visitor who feels seen is a visitor who keeps reading.

Your website should feel like a hug.

Not a pitch. Not a portfolio. A hug. The kind that says, you're finally here, I'm so glad you found me, let me make this easy for you.

When someone lands on your page, they're usually carrying something. A problem they haven't been able to solve. A feeling they can't quite name. A hope that maybe this time, this person gets it. Your website's first job is to meet them there, before it does anything else.

When that happens, everything else on the page works harder.

One of my clients told me her favorite part of working together was going through her website wireframe, because it felt truly collaborative. She said it didn’t feel like I handed her a β€œmasterpiece” and told her to take it or leave it. It felt like I interpreted everything she shared, built the structure, and then we refined it together so it stayed in her voice.

That’s the whole point. Your website shouldn’t sound like your designer or like a template. It should sound like you, just clearer and more confident.

AI can generate a headshot for you in about thirty seconds.

But there's something a real photo does that an AI-generated one can't. A photographer who knows what they're doing captures your actual presence. The way you hold yourself. The warmth in your face. The thing that makes someone feel like they already know you a little before they've read a single word on your page.

If you want your website to feel like a legitimate business, investing in professional photos is one of the most straightforward things you can do. It signals that you take your work seriously, and that signal lands before anything else on the page does.

Most coaches don't have a website problem. They have a messaging problem.

I recently worked with my client Heidi Allsop, and when she came to me, she had a beautiful website with professional photos, a freebie, testimonials, and an about section. She was doing a lot of things right. But she wasn't getting the clients she wanted, and when we looked at her site together, it was clear why.

Her website was telling her story instead of her client's.

The first thing a visitor needs to feel when they land on your page is seen. Not impressed by your credentials. Not handed a free guide before they even know what you do. Seen. When we restructured Heidi's site around her client's problem, her client's desire, and a clear next step, everything shifted. Two out of three consult calls last week became high-ticket clients.

In this week's episode, I walk you through the full before and after so you can see exactly what changed and apply it to your own site today.

Neal Foard has four words above his desk: "Life is a team sport."

It's not a motivational poster. It's a business strategy.

His point: the more you see the people around you as friends and colleagues instead of competitors, the more you tap into what actually makes humans powerful. Not strength. Not speed. Cooperation.

We outran predators on the African plains not because we were faster or stronger, but because we could communicate and work together. That instinct doesn't stop being useful when you open a business.

The people winning right now aren't the ones hoarding opportunities. They're the ones creating them with other people.

Full conversation with Neal Foard is live on Episode 75 of the From Click to Client Podcast. 🎧
