On November 12, Ruby Bridges—the six-year-old who courageously became one of the first Black children to integrate an all-white elementary school in the South—will visit Sarasota for Walk Forward: The Ruby Bridges Sarasota Initiative. Her story continues to inspire generations to lead with courage, compassion, and a commitment to building stronger, more welcoming communities.

During her visit, community members will have the opportunity to hear directly from Ruby in a public town hall at Booker High School's Visual and Performing Arts Center, and engage in meaningful conversations about youth leadership, civic engagement, belonging, and the power each of us has to make a difference.

Presented by Gulf Coast Community Foundation, GCLI takes participants through six intensive, high-quality leadership training sessions designed to identify, develop, and connect a diverse and growing group of community leaders. The result is a network of skilled, action-oriented leaders who are committed to using their new skills to help transform their communities through service.
