A Google Maps scam is getting attention where scammers upload AI-generated photos to Business Profiles that look like legitimate business signs but display the scammer’s phone number.

Because customer-uploaded photos can appear prominently, someone could call the scammer instead of the real business—even though the official phone number on the profile was never changed.
