Innovation took center stage at Posidonia 2026.

As the finale to the 5th "Trading in U.S. Waters" conference, SHIPPINGInsight’s SHARK TANK brought together maritime leaders, investors, shipowners, and technology innovators for a live showcase of solutions designed to tackle some of shipping’s biggest challenges.

Six emerging companies pitched technologies focused on artificial intelligence, vessel performance, operational efficiency, autonomous systems, and emissions reduction before an esteemed panel of judges representing some of the industry's most influential organizations.

Congratulations to Carbon Ridge and Anastasija Kuprijanova, recipient of the 2026 SHIPPINGInsight Posidonia Innovation Award, for their innovative onboard carbon capture and storage technology.

The discussions made one thing clear: innovation is no longer a future concept for shipping. It is happening now, and the next generation of maritime solutions is already shaping the industry's path forward.

Thank you to our partners, judges, innovators, and attendees who helped make SHARK TANK at Posidonia 2026 a tremendous success. We look forward to continuing the momentum this October in Houston at SHIPPINGInsight's Project 2027.

As the U.S. works to strengthen its maritime industrial base and compete on a global stage, one question stands out: how do we turn maritime ambition into real ex*****on?

During National Maritime Week, SHIPPINGInsight, in partnership with American Maritime Industrial Coalition, will host Revitalizing the U.S. Maritime Industry—a leadership forum bringing together voices from government, industry, and innovation.

The program features voices from across the sector, including Carleen Lyden Walker, Stephen Carmel, Todd Young (invited), James Watson, Andrew Farquharson (invited), Beatriz Canamary, Elspeth McMahon, Garrett Huffman, and David Walker. The program will explore workforce development, shipbuilding capacity, supply chain resilience, and the future of maritime technology.

As Carleen Lyden Walker shared, “National Maritime Week is the ideal time for all the stakeholders in this space to convene and map the future of our industry ‘stated Ms. Walker. “Our voices need to be unified, strategic, and strong if we hope to break the logjam and get our industry back to a global leadership position. This is about how our industry impacts national security, economic, energy, climate and workforce security. This is our moment to make a difference and take action.”
