Shout out the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce for letting us present our "Marketing on a Small Budget" presentation for their March Lunch and Learn. Jen spoke to a room of business owners on the easy and immediate things they can do to market their business when their marketing budget is tight. Almost all the tips boiled down to consistency and community.

Our jam is inspiring businesses to get excited about marketing themselves and showing up for their customers. This was such a fun way to spend a lunch hour!

Some people help organizations tell better stories. Rachel Bloom-Pojar helps them tell the right ones.

Rachel is the founder of Confianza Collective and a bilingual consultant who has spent 15 years working with storytellers, community health leaders, and writers.

Her work often centers on supporting health promoters and reproductive healthcare organizations through training design, capacity building, and digital storytelling.

Before founding Confianza Collective in 2025, Rachel spent nearly a decade as a professor of rhetoric and writing and as a community-engaged researcher focused on health promotion in Spanish-speaking communities.

We love when we get to meet our clients in person!

Since we all work virtually in different locations, it is such a gift when we can actually be with our clients in person! This weekend, our Project Manager, Natalia Scott , met up with our client Rachel Bloom-Pojar from Confianza Collective for an in-person work sesh!

Natalia, a native Spanish speaker, assists Confianza Collective with their marketing needs in reaching out to non-profits in Hispanic communities. Helping them to tell their stories and raise more money for their organizations.

Say 👋to the newest member of the Moonwake team, Brian Speers!

Brian is joining Moonwake as our Creative Director. His immense creativity and corporate leadership experience will be the perfect blend of big ideas and practical systems that Moonwake is focusing on as we grow.

Brian brings with him a lifelong passion for ideas, storytelling and thoughtful design. He was also raised in an entrepreneur household as his dad owned an advertising agency.

Over the years, Brian has worked as a freelance designer, producing everything from t-shirts, logos, and illustrations to dimensional retail signage and original large-scale custom murals, one of which was displayed in the downtown Des Moines skywalk for over 12 years. Beyond design work, he has been published as a sportswriter and is the author of two self-published novels.

Outside of work, he enjoys playing adult league baseball, being a goofy Dad, and indulging a deep love of 1980s and 1990s pop culture. He also is the husband of our owner, Jen Speers.

Moonwake was so excited to host this month's Coffee Connection

I loved getting to introduce our growing biz to a room of people who also LOVE supporting small!

I also was proud to have two of my Chicago-area team members join me at the event to show that although we work remote...we always remain a team and focus on collaboration.

Thanks to the friends who came just to show support! And thank you to the many business owners who pulled me aside to share their marketing and business struggles with me. My passion is finding solutions and support to help you succeed.

Although we don't need to have a connection to Minnesota or Minneapolis to give a s**t about what is happening there, we do have team members there and they are on the front lines of what is happening.

So please, please check out www.standwithminnesota.com for ways that you can support those fighting against the invasion in their community. Our team in Minneapolis tells us that the biggest need is to any of the food related organizations that ensure that any families who are too afraid to leave their homes can still have meals and groceries.

Moonwake is fully on the side of "Abolish ICE" and stands with everyone who is feeling the toll of this oppressive regime and their terror on everyday people. Check in on your neighbors, continue to get together with those you love as an act of resistance, protest when you can and remember that they cannot strip us of what makes us human.

Dr. King's calls for justice, dignity, and equality weren't just for his time. They remain deeply relevant in today's world, more now than ever. His work reminds us that progress is built through courage, empathy, and a willingness to stand up for what's right, always.

And, most importantly, Dr. King showed us that leadership rooted in humanity, not in fear, division, or abuse of power, is the only kind that lasts. Today, we honor his life and legacy.

Since 2022, it's been a tradition to share our yearly goals. Not only for the current year, but from years past. This is because we love showing how far we have come in such a short time, but also because you can see that not every goal is hit every year. And that is okay! We have continued to grow in a sustainable, authentic way and sometimes that means that certain goals get pushed to the back burner!

So, laugh and cringe and celebrate with us as we look back on our yearly goals!
