AI search is heating up in 2026 🔥 earlier this month, Anthropic announced it will open its first office in Sydney.

Ahrefs AI vs Search Traffic Analysis shows Claude is the fastest-growing traffic source by a wide margin, with average month-over-month growth sitting at +30.7%.

But here’s the reality check; Google is still far ahead, driving around 392M visits in March versus around 3.2M from all AI tools combined.

What does that mean? AI isn’t replacing search, but it is expanding where people discover brands and the smart brands are the ones showing up in both.
