Did you catch one of Sierra Club BC's World Cup ads?

Their campaign brought old-growth logging into the spotlight, blanketing Vancouver with building projections, LED trucks, SkyTrain ads, bar screens, TV spots and digital ads on phones and computers across the city. We were thrilled to partner with them to help make their plan come to life.

The message was impossible to miss: 100 soccer fields of B.C. old-growth forest are still clear-cut every day. It's time for the BC government to keep their promise. Take action at ProtectOldGrowth.ca

We join so many across British Columbia in mourning the loss of former BCGEU President Stephanie Smith.

Stephanie changed the labour movement for the better. She combined fierce advocacy with deep compassion, earning the respect of workers, employers, governments, and allies alike. Whether she was fighting for stronger public services, better child care, or fairer workplaces, she never lost sight of the people behind the issues.

Stephanie's impact will be felt for generations through the campaigns she led, the leaders she mentored, and the countless workers whose lives are better because of her.

Our thoughts are with Stephanie's family, her friends, everyone at the BCGEU, and all those across the labour movement who are grieving this tremendous loss.

The Carney government is trying to strong arm labour. He has laid off thousands of public service workers. They regularly undermine workers’ right to strike through use of Section 107, and are considering new legislative options to prevent strikes in the future. They are planning on rewriting the Canadian Labour Code to weaken the bargaining process, with limited consultation with the people this actually affects.

Here is what Carney is missing: Without unions, we don’t have trade. We don’t have nation-building projects. Education, housing, resource development, clean energy, a strong economy—all of this is only possible because of labour and workers.

Workers make Canada strong.

🏆 But it was also a winner in the ad industry, internationally! This past weekend “UnfAir Canada: The Podcast” won Silver and Bronze at the Polaris Awards.

It’s been 30 years since the beginning of what is now known as National Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

In that time, communities across Turtle Island have faced hard truths about our history of colonialism. We’ve also witnessed, learned from and celebrated the continued resilience of Indigenous Peoples.

We’ve seen…

The landmark creation of Nunavut (1999) – a territory created towards Inuit self-governance and self-determination.

Precedent-setting victories in the Supreme Court – Delgamuukw (1999), Powley (2003), Tsilhqot'in (2014), among others.

Historic Nation-building projects, including by our partners wa lh7tím̓á ta Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (the Squamish Nation Constitution Project ).

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2008-2015) and its 94 Calls to Action.

The adoption of UNDRIP (2021).

We are reflecting on these milestones, and celebrating First Nations, Metis and Inuit Peoples across Turtle Island, today and every day.
