Film lovers across the Falkirk area and further afield are being urged to vote for the Hippodrome Cinema Cinema Bo’ness, Scotland’s oldest purpose-built cinema, to win the British Independent Film Awards’ (BIFA) Cinema of the Year award.

Public voting is now open for the prestigious award, supported by Kia UK, giving cinemagoers the chance to celebrate the independent cinemas that bring communities together and make watching a film on the big screen a special experience.

Our founder Tricia Fox reckons it wasn't sloppy, it was strategic. "Equivalised income" isn't a phrase you stumble into by accident. It's precise, it's deliberate, and it conveniently puts the goalposts out of reach for the people it affects most.

Thousands of cyclists from all over the UK have pedalled across the Scottish Highlands today (Sunday, 10 May) for Cancer Research UK UK Etape Caledonia 2026, the UK’s original closed-road sportive.

Organised by Motiv Sports UK and supported by headline charity Cancer Research UK, the event welcomed over 4,500 cyclists from across the UK.

Cyclists of all abilities set off from Pitlochry at dawn, choosing from 40, 55 and 85-mile routes and riding through Highland Perthshire’s dramatic scenery on fully closed roads.
