3 marketing reports every business owner should actually understand.

If you're spending money on digital marketing, these are three reports worth looking at regularly:

1. Conversion report
Not just how many, but what kind. Are they real leads? Is your tracking accurate? Phantom conversions are more common than you'd think.

2. Search terms report (Google Ads)
This shows what people actually searched before clicking your ad. You'd be surprised how much budget goes to irrelevant terms.

3. Organic landing page report (Google Search Console)
Which pages are bringing organic traffic, and are they the pages that actually convert?

These three reports will tell you more about your marketing than anything else.

Save this for later 📌

Imagine asking AI about your business and getting information about your competitor instead.

That's exactly what we uncovered while working with Tile Space.
After identifying the cause, we implemented targeted improvements to strengthen their brand signals and improve how AI platforms understood the business.

The result?
✅ Improved brand clarity
✅ Reduced competitor confusion
✅ Stronger visibility across AI platforms

If you don't actively feed AI search engines clear, structured information about your business, they will fill in the blanks with whatever data they can find. Usually, that means pointing your potential customers toward someone else.

Shoutout to the NZ businesses quietly playing the long game 🙌

Every few weeks we come across companies doing things really well. Whether it's their content, customer experience, or the way they show up online.

The NZ business community is small and genuinely good.

This week, we want to acknowledge the brands getting serious about AI search visibility before their competitors do. Quietly building an advantage that's going to compound.

You know who you are.

Tag a local business doing great things — we'd love to know who you're watching 👇

We’ve been quietly testing ChatGPT Ads. 🤖

Over the past month, we’ve been running live campaigns using our own budget to see how the reality compares with the hype.

The early result? An average cost per click of NZ$3.35 📈

It’s an encouraging start, but we’re treating it cautiously. Lower competition, our niche audience and the platform’s early stage may all be influencing the cost.

The bigger takeaway is how differently ChatGPT Ads works compared with Google and Meta.

Right now, the platform is still finding its feet:

👉 Reporting is basic and budget controls are limited.
👉 Targeting is shaped by conversational context rather than keyword lists or defined audiences.

This changes how you need to approach campaign structure, targeting and measurement.

We don’t recommend new channels to our clients simply because they’re getting attention. We test them ourselves first, building real-world experience before deciding where they may fit within a wider paid media strategy.

Has anyone else started testing ChatGPT Ads? What are you seeing so far with costs and campaign controls? 👇

AI Visibility: 3 things you can do this week ✅

AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are recommending products and services to buyers right now.

Here's how to check where your brand stands and start improving it:

1. Search for yourself in ChatGPT
Ask it to recommend a business like yours in your city. See if you appear, and what it says about you.

2. Check your structured data
AI tools rely on schema markup to understand who you are and what you offer. If yours is incomplete, it's limiting your visibility.

3. Make your content answer questions directly
AI cites sources that give clear, authoritative answers. Write for the question, not just the keyword.

This is where search is heading. Getting ahead now is cheaper than catching up later.

We have some big news to share today, and it is a massive win for New Zealand enterprises.

authentic digital has officially been named as New Zealand’s first and only Semrush Enterprise partner.

This partnership brings enterprise-grade AI & search intelligence directly to Kiwi brands, paired with hands-on support from our senior local team.

As search continues to expand far beyond Google’s first page, this total picture of online visibility will be critical for organisations wanting to protect their brand, capture new market share, and stay on the customer shortlist across both search engines and AI platforms like ChatGPT.

While this validates the complex search work our team has been doing for years, we are even more excited for what it brings to our clients moving forward.

What does a strategy session at authentic digital actually look like?

Usually, it starts with curiosity.
- What's the business trying to achieve?
- What's working well?
- What's creating friction?

And perhaps most importantly, where is the biggest opportunity for improvement?

Our goal isn't to overwhelm you with a massive list of recommendations or hand over a generic PDF that sits unread in a folder.

By the end of the conversation, we want you to have total clarity on where your marketing stands today, what actually matters, and exactly where to focus your budget next.

Simple in theory.

Surprisingly valuable in practice.

If you could ask a search specialist one question, what would it be?

"We finally understand what's working in our marketing."

That's one of the best things a client can say to us.

Not just "our rankings improved" (though they did).
Not just "our cost per lead dropped" (though it did too).

But that they actually feel informed. In control. Not just trusting that their agency is doing something useful behind the scenes.

It comes from honest conversations, plain-language reporting, and a team that takes the time to explain what the numbers actually mean. A fancy dashboard can’t replace that.

That's what we're here for.

More website traffic ≠ more leads. Here's why.

Getting traffic but not enough leads? Read this before spending more on ads.

The real question isn't "how do we get more visitors?"

It's "what happens after the click?"

Ask yourself:
→ Is your headline speaking to your customer's actual problem?
→ Is your CTA clear and above the fold?
→ Are you sending paid traffic to your homepage? (Stop this.)
→ Does your page load in under 3 seconds on mobile?
→ Is there any reason to trust you within 5 seconds of arriving?

Traffic is fuel. Conversion rate is the engine.

You can't fix a conversion problem by adding more fuel.

Have you checked your conversion rate lately?

One of the biggest misconceptions in digital marketing is that visibility automatically creates trust.

In reality, it's often the other way around.

The businesses that consistently earn referrals, repeat customers, and positive word of mouth are usually the businesses people trust first.

Search visibility can help people find you, but trust is what makes them choose you over a competitor.

That's why we encourage businesses to focus on more than rankings.

Ask yourself:
→ Is your website helping people feel confident?
→ Are your reviews current?
→ Do your case studies reflect the work you're doing today?
→ Would someone understand what makes you different within a few minutes?

Marketing works best when all of these pieces work together.

What’s the number one thing that builds immediate trust in your industry?
