‘Tis the time to be an autumn gal –

Last week I did a Lambton Quay (the main street in Wellington) recce before a shopping trip this morning with a client, who lands in the autumn colours palette, and I was delighted that there would be so much for us to choose from.

I have never seen so many garments and even shoes in the right colours for an autumn. and I wasn’t even looking for that long. (Exclude the pewter-coloured sling backs, as that is a winter colour).

If you are not sure of what colours that you should be looking for – we can easily fix that. I offer online and in-person appointments, so you don't even have to be in Wellington.

If you are in Wellington on 9th August, I'd love to see you at my workshop.

What a lovely review Diana left me –

"I would leave six stars if I could! I had a three-hour wardrobe edit with Nicky and it was money very well spent! Once we started with the whats and whys, the process was fun, easy, and actually quite fast.

I'm now enjoying a new considerably slimmed down wardrobe. Choices are FAR easier. Future clothing purchases will be well considered and targetted, saving me money. I'm loving putting together new outfits and wearing pieces I've had very little, if any wear out of previously.

Being an older lady (57 yrs), it was really reassuring to hear what suits me best now and what has become dated or just wrong! I've gone from brunette to silvery/blonde hair, skin tone's changed over time, not to mention physique so it was time for help.

I highly recommend this service and Nicky herself, who is informed, friendly, and patient.

One of the biggest misunderstandings around is that staying stylish means constantly buying the latest fashion. This simply is not true. Instead, you can work with what suits you and your colouring, body shape, personality, and lifestyle.

Fashion changes every few months; your best colours, proportions, and personal style do not.

That does not mean that your wardrobe should become outdated. You can absolutely look current and contemporary by updating your outfits, but try asking "Does this suit me, and will I still enjoy wearing it next year?"

That's the difference between following fashion and developing personal style.

And in my experience, confidence grows when you stop dressing to keep up with everyone else and start dressing in keeping with what you like and suit.

Q: do you feel pressure to keep up with fashion trends, or have you found your own style? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Before you put the washing away this weekend –

Take a look at the clothes that you have reached for most over the last two weeks. Ask yourself:

• Which colours made me feel good or seemed to brighten me up?
• Which outfits made me feel confident?
• Which pieces once again did not get worn?

Your selections tell you something. The trick is finding the pattern in what you prefer and makes you feel comfortable. And if simplifying your wardrobe choices is your aim, this makes things a whole lot easier.

Doubt, uncertainty, and frustration – this is the reality for a lot of us trying to decide what to wear even just for work. And things get even harder when there is an important event coming up, a presentation to give, or a job interview to attend.

I get that it can be a big deal trying to figure out how to look well presented and credible, so I am planning a webinar called 'Look the Part, Feel the Part' where I cover how to put your outfits together so that out in the business world you have confidence, clarity, and comfort.

What would you be most interested in advice on?
