Do you think the Land-Dweller watches are still in price discovery?

In this post, we take a look at the secondary market pricing for the three most popular Land-Dweller models: the 40mm stainless steel Ref. 127334, the 36mm stainless steel Ref. 127234, and the 36mm rose gold Ref. 127235.

All three models have dropped in price over the past six months, as more models hit the secondary market. All three trade above retail, though the stainless steel models command higher premiums, as expected.

Which of these three precious metal Rolex models would you pick?

A more subtle option than yellow or rose gold, and perhaps sometimes mistaken for stainless steel when viewed from a distance, white gold Rolex watches are an ultra luxurious choice. In this post, we take a look at three white gold models that are part of Rolex’s current catalog.

All three models have seen significant increases in their respective market prices over the past year. Of the three models, the Daytona Ref. 126509 saw the largest gain. The meteorite-dial Pepsi GMT-Master Ref. 126719BLRO-0002 and the Cookie Monster Submariner Ref. 126619LB were both discontinued last month at Watches & Wonders.

What are your thoughts on titanium as a case material?

As a material for luxury watches, titanium has been very divisive. Perhaps the most obvious practical benefit of titanium is its lighter weight, in comparison to stainless steel. In this post, we take a look at titanium dive watch offerings from Tudor, Rolex, and Omega.

The titanium Rolex Deepsea Challenge Ref. 126067 was introduced in 2022 and commands a substantial premium over retail. The Tudor Pelagos Ref. 25407N and the Omega Seamaster Ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001 trade below retail but have gone up in price over the past year.

What do you think is a good price to pay for the Rolex Sprite?

In 2022, Rolex released the left-handed GMT-Master II “Sprite” Ref. 126720VTNR-0002 on the jubilee bracelet. It debuted on the secondary market in May 2022 at around $43,000 but quickly came down in price. While its price had been stable at around the $17,000 price point, it recently started trending upwards, now trading for around $17,500. This represents a +40% value retention considering its retail price is $12,500.

What are your thoughts on green-dial watches?

Green dials have been taking the watch world by storm over the past few years. In this post, we take a look at green dial offerings featuring the chronograph complication, from the likes of Rolex, Patek and Breitling.

All three models have gone down in value over the past two years. The “John Mayer” Rolex, by far the most popular of the trio, trades substantially above retail, while the Patek and the Breitling trade at discounts on the secondary market.
