A fun family tradition that’s become one of our favorite parts of Memorial Weekend.

Every year we tie dye shirts together. I design a new yearly logo to iron on, everyone creates their own colorful masterpiece. The best part? Cutting off the rubber bands and seeing how every shirt turns out completely different.

And of course, we have to end it all with the annual family photo. 🌀 🇺🇸✨

I went for the ribbon cutting and stayed for the races! It was my first time there and wow… it was fun, fast, and LOUD. I ended up running into an old coworker, sat with him for the races, and spent most of the night asking questions because all of it was so fascinating.

Safe to say, I get the hype now. I already want to go back and take my nieces and nephews because I know they’d love it!

There are so many new faces around here, so I figured it was time for a proper introduction. Hi, I’m Lydia, owner + creative director of Noble Creative. A little about me beyond the branding and marketing world…

I’m a very proud aunt to 6 nieces and nephews - plus honorary auntie to a bunch more.

I have a great family and I am very close with all of them.

I will never say no to a sweet treat. Ice cream is at the top of the list.

Nachos, lasagna, and steak are my favorite meals.

I am absolutely a summer + beach girl. My perfect day is spent near the water, soaking up the sun.

Speaking of beach, I host LYDIAFEST every year which a celebration of me. I made a purple flag for it - so it’s legit.

Iced coffee is required year-round.

I love bright colors, beautiful art, and anything creative.

I sew, craft, design, and make things just for the joy of creating.

I love heading up north, camping, fishing, and slowing down a little.

I genuinely love connecting people and bringing communities together.

And if there’s a theme involved? I will absolutely commit to it.

Fresh flowers make me ridiculously happy. I buy them for myself all the time.

I love country living — the quiet, the peace, the slower pace.

I’m deeply passionate about small businesses, especially women-owned businesses. Around 90% of my current clients are women-owned, and it’s one of the things I’m most proud of.

And at the heart of it all, I started Noble Creative because I wanted small businesses to feel confident in their brand, proud of their story, and equipped to show up well everywhere their business exists.

I was born and raised in Hemlock. I attended Hemlock Public Schools from kindergarten to senior year. I’m proud of my hometown, proud of where I came from, and thankful for the roots that continue to keep me connected there. 💙 Thanks for the feature Hemlock Schools.

🎓 Alumni Spotlight | Lydia Ellison, a 2008 Hemlock graduate, was involved in Book Club and embraced the strong sense of community that continues to make Hemlock feel like home. From themed school spirit days to earning “Most School Spirit” at prom—and even a sports boosters scholarship—she made the most of her time as a Huskie.

After graduating, Lydia earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Ferris State University in 2012. She credits Hemlock’s mix of core classes and business electives for helping her discover her passion for business and setting her on the right path.

A staff member who made a lasting impact was Mrs. Gerard, who Lydia had in multiple classes throughout high school. Her encouragement and genuine care left a meaningful impression.

Today, Lydia is the Creative Director and Owner of Noble Creative, an award-winning marketing agency based in West Michigan. Through her work, she partners with small businesses and nonprofits across the state to build strong, memorable brands through strategy, design, and creative storytelling.

Her advice for current Huskies: “Appreciate this season of life. It goes by faster than you think. Take photos, go to the games, cheer on your friends, and enjoy being part of something bigger.”
