CLEAN SWEEPIN': Tom Berry Jr perfect in Memorial Day Weekend triple through Iowa

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 27, 2026) - Perfect in all sense of the word, Marshalltown, Iowa's Tom Berry Jr. was a perfect three-for-three in his Memorial Day Weekend maneuvers through the Hawkeye State, winning three straight IMCA Modified main events over a three day campaign, all of which activating with a clean sweep at CJ Speedway in Columbus Junction, Iowa, on Friday, May 22.

Berry, a former IMCA Super Nationals Champion, continued his dominance with a victory at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Saturday, May 23, eventually capping his holiday slate with a triumph at Benton County Speedway in Vinton, Iowa, on Sunday, May 24. The three-race win sweep bumped Berry's total win tally to five in 2026, commencing his winning ways at Stuart Speedway in Stuart, Iowa, on Wednesday, April 8. An incredible feat, nonetheless, Berry has finished off the podium only once since that date - an unfortunate "DNF" at Stuart on April 19.

As noted, Berry's efforts at CJ Speedway resulted in a clean sweep: winning his respective heat race in addition to the main event. In fact, two of Berry's three Memorial Day Weekend performances resulted in a clean sweep with his only "defeat" occurring in his Benton County heat race; he finished third from third on the grid.

Adding to his impressive weekend stat sheet, Berry's visits to CJ Speedway and 34 Raceway were a first-ever, increasing his track appearance total to seven just this year. If all goes according to plan, and if his schedule allows, a return is likely.

Brandon Sheppard Posts Consistent Weekend at Show-Me 100
Rises to Second in LOLMDS Points Chase

SHINNISTON, W. VA. (May 26, 2026) — Brandon Sheppard capped a consistent weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series by scoring a runner-up finish in Sunday’s rain-delayed Show-Me 100 finale at Lucas Oil Speedway aboard the Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Late Model.

With a pair of preliminary top-10 finishes and a second-place effort in Sunday’s finale, Sheppard extended his streak to 15 consecutive top-10 finishes dating back to March 7 at Golden Isles Speedway.

“I think we had a little different tire combination than Bobby,” Sheppard said. “I felt like I couldn’t run many laps around the top before it started to go away, so I was trying to really hit the bottom in turns three and four and slowly creep toward him. I probably didn’t move around enough, but I was trying to take care of my tires. A lot of guys on the same tire strategy faded late.”

The 34th annual Show-Me 100 presented by Ace Doran began Thursday, but late showers following the consolation races forced Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials to postpone the Cowboy Classic feature until later Friday evening.

In Friday’s Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson preliminary, Sheppard backed up a third-place heat race finish with a strong charge from 14th to 3rd in the 40-lap feature.

Later that night, he rallied from the eighth row in the rain-delayed Cowboy Classic finale, gaining five positions to finish 10th in the $10,000-to-win main event.

Locked into Sunday’s rain-delayed $75,000-to-win Show-Me 100 via his preliminary results, Sheppard advanced four positions in the 75-lap finale to secure a runner-up finish. He joined winner Bobby Pierce and third-place finisher Jonathan Davenport on the podium.

With the weekend results, Sheppard climbed to second in the latest LOLMDS point standings.

Complete results, latest standings, and additional news on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are available at www.LucasDirt.com.

Sheppard and the Rocket1 Racing team now turn their attention to a busy stretch with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Action begins Thursday at Wayne County Speedway before the team heads to the newly revived Mansfield Speedway for the two-day Blaster 57 Special.

Josh Rice Charges to Cowboy Classic Victory at Lucas Oil Speedway
Kentucky Driver Earns $10,000 for First Win with JRR Motorsports

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (May 26, 2026) — Josh Rice emerged victorious in Friday night’s rain-delayed Cowboy Classic at Lucas Oil Speedway, earning his first win with JRR Motorsports aboard the MGL Auto Sales / M.C. Tank Transport No. 11 Longhorn Chassis. (Heath Lawson Photos)

Rice, now a three-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series winner, survived an attrition-filled feature to claim the $10,000 payday.

“I can’t thank James Ratliff enough for sticking with me,” Rice said in Lucas Oil Victory Lane. “I was doubting myself and wondering what in the world I had done. We tried some things Thursday, and this car has been so good. We just missed it on tires in that first race, and I thought we’d be much better than we were.”

The rain-soaked weekend originally began Thursday with the 13th annual Cowboy Classic, but persistent weather postponed the 45-lap affair until Friday after the consolation races were completed. Rice positioned himself for the feature with an impressive third-to-first charge in his heat race before patiently working his way through the field in the postponed preliminary.

Starting from the third row, Rice quickly moved into contention and challenged for the lead throughout the second half of the race. He reclaimed second on lap 39 before overtaking Garrett Alberson for the lead one lap later, ultimately driving away for the victory.

Earlier Friday, Rice also competed in the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson program. He set fast time overall in the 51-car field and followed it up with a heat race victory. Rice faded during the closing stages of the 40-lapper to finish eighth.

The weekend concluded Sunday with the rain-delayed $75,000-to-win Show-Me 100 finale. Rice started from the outside front row and led laps 18-23 before fading late to a 14th-place finish in the 75-lapper.

Complete results, latest standings, and additional news on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are available at www.LucasDirt.com.

Rice and JRR Motorsports are currently finalizing plans for the upcoming weekend, but the team is scheduled to return to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition June 19-20 at Smoky Mountain Speedway for the Mountain Moonshine Classic.

Bryce Norris perfect in Saturday night stop at I-55 Raceway
Lake Ozark a potential Memorial Day weekend destination

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (May 19, 2026) — Terre Haute, Indiana's Bryce Norris was the man to beat Saturday night at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway in Pevely, Missouri, conquering the entire 410 Sprint program for his first feature victory of the season.

Norris, a former Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) winner, was perfect from start to finish, not only winning the 25-lap main event, but he opened the evening's program with a heat race triumph, as well. The ace of the Bryce Norris Racing | Platinum Lawncare No. 37 started from the front row in each of the aforementioned contests.

Norris' I-55 performance pads an already impressive early-season stat sheet for the Hoosier, now with three top-tens in his last five starts, finishing no worse than 15th with an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series "Hard Charger Award" achieved in the process. In fact, the first of the mentioned top-tens was accomplished at I-55, powering ahead four positions from 13th on April 25. If all goes according to plan, Norris will return to the Pevely highbanks for an IRA invasion in late June.

Bryce Norris Racing is still evaluating its upcoming schedule due to weather concerns, but the team has identified a Memorial Day weekend doubleheader at Lake Ozark Speedway as its next hopeful event. If Mother Nature cooperates, the Missouri oval will host the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint Series for the Ozark Wave Breaker.

Additional event info is available www.LakeOzarkSpeedway.net.

Bryce Norris Racing would like to thank their marketing partners for their continued support, including Platinum Lawncare, Simpson Racing Products, Benic Enterprises, Xcaliber Graphics, Haute Hospitality, SMC Inc., Tipton Welding, Canada’s Collision Center, B&M Sandblasting & Powdercoating, Puremax Racing Oil, PMX Hose, Engler Fuel Injection, Ultrashield Race Products, Sharp Advantage, Keizer Wheels and MyRacePass Marketing Services.

Ashton Winger Dominates Gene Maine Memorial at Needmore Speedway
Georgia Native Collects $7,501 Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series Payday

HAMPTON, Ga. (May 18, 2026) — Ashton Winger capped off a strong Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series weekend in dominant fashion on Saturday night, piloting the Mathews Motorsports No. 12 Super K Express / Recreational Vehicle Select / Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model to victory in the Gene Maine Memorial at Needmore Speedway.

After opening the doubleheader with a ninth-place finish on Friday at Waycross Motor Speedway, Winger was flawless at Needmore Speedway one night later. The Georgia native topped the charts in qualifying before leading all 40 laps en route to the $7,501 triumph.

“I knew getting that start there was important,” Winger said. “I knew I probably needed to lift pretty early down here on the start in order to get launched like I needed to leaving (turn) two. I felt like it really got one lane, but, like, you could still pass just based on, like, how long you waited to pick the throttle up down here leaving two, and then just the longer you went into three there beside somebody, as long as you stayed in the throttle. The shape of the racetrack actually just allowed you to pass (lapped cars).”

Winger’s home-state weekend began Friday with the Showdown at the Swamp at Waycross Motor Speedway, where he advanced four positions from a seventh-row starting spot to secure a top-10 finish.

Roughly 90 miles west on Saturday, Winger unloaded with speed at Needmore Speedway and never looked back. After pacing qualifying, he drove to a commanding flag-to-flag victory in the Gene Maine Memorial, crossing the finish line more than six seconds ahead of the competition.

The win marked Winger’s first victory of the 2026 season and the second Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series triumph of his career.

Complete results from the doubleheader www.SouthernThunderSeries.com.

Weather permitting, Winger is slated to head to West Virginia this weekend for a two-race swing with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series. Action begins Friday at Elkins Speedway for the Frederick Memorial before wrapping up Saturday at West Virginia Motor Speedway as the newly renovated 3/8-mile oval hosts the tour.

Home-State Heroics: Logan Zarin Victorious at Marion Center Raceway
World of Outlaws ROTY Contender Claims Connor Bobik Memorial Prelim

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. (May 18, 2026) — Logan Zarin’s persistence on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series trail paid off over the weekend with a $6,000 victory in his home state of Pennsylvania aboard his All American Framers / Brandon's Lawn & Landscape No. 1Z Longhorn Chassis Late Model. (DGoody Photography image)

The rising Pennsylvania native and MD3 Rookie of the Year candidate outran Brent Larson on Friday night at Marion Center Raceway to secure his first career World of Outlaws victory during preliminary action for the Connor Bobik Memorial.

“This is crazy man, we’ve been getting our asses kicked on the road, it’s nice to come home and finally get one,” Zarin said, nearly overwhelmed with emotion. “I haven’t won a Super (Late Model) race in a long time, so this one’s cool.”

Zarin’s five-race stretch with the national tour began Wednesday at Delaware Speedway for the Visit Delaware 51. After finishing third in his heat race at the half-mile oval, he went on to record a 14th-place finish in the 51-lap opener.

The following night at Selinsgrove Speedway, Zarin improved two positions with a 12th-place outing before shifting focus to Marion Center Raceway for the two-day Connor Bobik Memorial.

With the stout 47-car field split into two groups for Friday’s preliminary program, Zarin laid down a strong qualifying effort to secure a front-row starting spot for his 25-lap feature. From there, he was dominant, leading flag-to-flag to secure the breakthrough victory.

Saturday’s Connor Bobik Memorial finale was ultimately washed out by Mother Nature, sending teams to Bedford Speedway on Sunday for the Billy Winn Classic. Zarin raced his way into the $20,000-to-win feature with a consolation race victory before ending the night with a 20th-place finish.

Complete results, latest news, and updated standings for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series can be found at www.WorldofOutlaws.com.

Zarin is slated to return to World of Outlaws competition later this month when the tour resumes the postponed Connor Bobik Memorial on May 27 before heading to Ohio for a three-race swing. Action continues May 28 at Wayne County Speedway before wrapping up with a doubleheader at Mansfield Motor Speedway for the inaugural Blaster 57 Special on Friday and Saturday.

Austin Holcombe Sweeps Modified Mafia Tour at Oak Level Raceway
Memorial Day Weekend Tripleheader Awaits

ELM CITY, N.C. (May 12, 2026) — Austin Holcombe continued his hot streak with the Modified Mafia Tour over the weekend, sweeping both features at Oak Level Raceway to raise his season win total to four.

The North Carolina native captured Friday’s opener at the revamped Bassett, Virginia facility before returning Saturday to complete a dominant sweep of the evening’s program, earning fast time honors and victories in both the dash and feature aboard his Affordable Heating, Cooling & Plumbing / Atwell Exterior Services No. 8A Lethal Chassis Modified.

“Man, this car was bad fast all weekend,” Holcombe said in victory lane. “David Stremme builds a great piece and provides awesome support throughout the season. We’ve got a lot of great sponsors behind us that help us get up and down the road, and I can’t thank them enough. Looking forward to getting back to racing in a few weeks.”

Holcombe’s weekend took him across state lines to the newly revamped Oak Level Raceway in Bassett, Virginia, formerly known as Fork Mountain Raceway.

On Friday, Holcombe topped the speed charts in qualifying before finishing runner-up in the dash. He rebounded in the 30-lap feature, driving past Michael Altobelli and Austin Self to score the opening-night victory.

He returned Saturday and elevated his performance even further, once again setting fast time before winning both the dash and feature in dominant fashion to secure the $2,500 payday and complete the weekend sweep.

Complete results and the latest Modified Mafia Tour standings are available at www.ModifiedMafiaTour.com.

Holcombe is set to take this weekend off before returning to action Memorial Day weekend, when the Modified Mafia Tour embarks on a three-race swing across three states. Brandon Sheppard Rules Rain-Shortened Illinois Speedweek
Eagle Raceway’s High Bank Heist Up Next

SHINNISTON, W. VA. (May 11, 2026) — Brandon Sheppard turned a rain-soaked Illinois Speedweek into a winning week for Rocket1 Racing, collecting a pair of home-state victories aboard the Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Late Model.

The Rocket1 Racing driver opened the stretch with a FloRacing Night in America triumph at Spoon River Speedway before backing it up with a victory in Saturday’s FALS Spring Shootout at Fairbury Speedway. The wins marked Sheppard’s third career FloRacing Night in America victory and the 18th Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph of his career.

“This feels awesome. It seems like it’s been forever since we won here,” Sheppard said in Lucas Oil Victory Lane on Saturday night. “We always seem to win prelims at the Prairie Dirt Classic, but these bigger races have avoided me for a while, so it’s really special to win one here tonight.”

Illinois Speedweek was originally scheduled to begin Tuesday at La Salle Speedway before Mother Nature forced a cancellation, shifting the opener to Spoon River Speedway on Wednesday. Sheppard proved to be a serious threat from the early stages of the night, winning his heat race over Bobby Pierce before leading all 50 laps of the feature to secure the $20,000 payday.

“I’m kind of 50-50 here,” Sheppard said following the Spoon River victory. “Some nights I feel really good, and other nights I feel like I run about 16th. But our car's been phenomenal all year long. We've just had a good balance. The guys give me a great race car every time we unload and that put it back in my hands. Late in the race I knew I was struggling a bit off of turn two and if I could find the right line that I’d be in good shape, and that’s what I was able to do and we got the win."

After Thursday’s program was halted by rain midway through the night and Friday’s event at Farmer City Raceway also falling victim to wet weather, the weekend concluded with Saturday’s FALS Spring Shootout at Fairbury Speedway, where Sheppard continued his strong run.

Starting from the front row in the feature, Sheppard powered around Brian Shirley for the lead on lap 13 and controlled the remainder of the 60-lap affair to secure his seventh victory of the season.

Following the weekend, Sheppard climbed to third in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.

Complete results from both events can be found at www.FloSeries.com and www.LucasDirt.com.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series resumes this weekend with the second annual Malvern Bank High Bank Heist at Nebraska’s Eagle Raceway. The three-day event runs Thursday through Saturday with a $50,000 top prize up for grabs in the finale.

Missouri Native Scores First Win of 2026 in Home Track Comeback

LEBANON, Mo. (May 5, 2026) — Brennon Willard turned back the clock over the weekend, returning to his asphalt roots and driving to victory at Lebanon I-44 Speedway.

“Man, this is awesome,” Willard said. “The track was great, and so was our car. It always feels good to get back to your roots. Huge shoutout to Lucas Handley for coming up and helping us this weekend. Thank you to Tyler Morrison and Chad Barber for all your hard work, and to all of our partners on both asphalt and dirt who support us.”

Back at a track he knows well, Willard set the pace in qualifying and remained a factor throughout the feature. He worked his way back to the front late to secure his first win of the season.

Complete results from Willard’s lone event of the week can be found at www.I44Speedway.com.

Willard has a pair of asphalt events on the horizon, beginning this weekend with a return to Lebanon.
