There’s nothing like the energy of a great conversation, and Startup Boston Week delivered.

Our founder, Sharon Robustelli, joined the panel, "Tiny But Mighty: How Micro-Influencers Are Driving Big Wins for Startups," where panelists explored how startups can harness the power of micro-influencers without wasting time or resources.

One question really stood out: “What’s the very first thing a startup founder should do before diving into influencer partnerships?”

Sharon’s answer: Before doing anything, get crystal clear on who you are as a brand -- what you stand for and what you stand against. Too many founders skip this step. They know what they sell and the problem they solve, but they haven’t defined their brand identity. Without that clarity, they risk working with creators who don’t connect with their audience (or worse, send the wrong message entirely).

When a brand’s identity is clear, influencer partnerships have the power to truly move the needle.

Startup founders: Clarity comes first because without it, everything else falls flat.

I’m usually cool speaking to groups (public speaking fear? not my issue).

But speaking to fellow business owners? Oof. Imposter syndrome came in hot.

What could I say that they didn’t already know?

So I did what I do:
✨ Meditated
✨ Affirmed myself over NYC traffic
✨ And told myself: I’m the most accomplished person there is at what I do.

And guess what? My talk, “Go from Best-Kept Secret to Your Industry’s Go-To”, hit home.
The room leaned in. The questions kept coming.
And several people said, “This is exactly what I needed to hear.”
