💜 What a morning at the 2026 Portland Walk to End Alzheimer's!

This past Saturday, our team had the honor of serving on the logistics crew at the Oregon Zoo. That meant alarms going off at 4am so we could be on site in the dark, setting up, hauling supplies, and making sure everything was ready before the first walkers arrived at 7. Tired? Absolutely. Worth it? Every single minute. 🌅

One of the most powerful moments of the day is the Promise Garden Ceremony. Every walker holds up a pinwheel flower, and each color tells a story:

💙 Blue: for someone currently living with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia
💜 Purple: for someone who has lost a loved one to the disease
💛 Yellow: for someone currently supporting or caring for a person living with dementia
🧡 Orange: for everyone who supports the cause and the vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia
🤍 White: for the first survivor, a symbol of the hope that one day this disease will be cured

Seeing thousands of flowers raised together, and then carried along the entire route, is a reminder that no one walks this road alone.

This year, more than 2,400 walkers and nearly 300 teams came together, and Portland has already raised over $479,000 toward a $535,000 goal. There's still time to help close the gap!

What a night! 🎤

Thank you to everyone who came out and belted their hearts out at our karaoke fundraiser last night! From the power ballads to the iconic duets, you all brought the energy (and the courage!).

Thanks to your generosity, we've raised $1,490 so far, with more still coming in from our signature drink proceeds! 🍹 Every song, every sip, and every dollar makes a difference.

Big thanks to The Oaks Pub for helping us put this event together, we couldn't do it without their amazing team!

The fun doesn't stop here. We can't wait to see everyone at the zoo TOMORROW for the Portland walk! Lace up those sneakers and let's finish strong. 💜

💜 It's Walk week! 💜

This Saturday, October 10, our team, Krista's Crew is walking at the Oregon Zoo in the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's. We walk in honor of Krista Davis Tonn, who championed this cause for more than 20 years. In her words: "My cause is Purple."

But before then, you can join us THIS THURSDAY for our Karaoke Fundraiser! Grab the mic (or just cheer from your seat) and help us raise funds for the walk.

💜 What a day at Esther Short Park yesterday! Amy joined 605 walkers and 109 teams at yesterday's Walk to End Alzheimer's in Vancouver, and the energy was unforgettable.

One of the most moving moments came during the ceremony, when a gentleman shared why he walks: for his wife, Suzy. He and Team Suzy raised an incredible $108,420 for Alzheimer's care, support and research. There wasn't a dry eye in the park.

And Vancouver showed up, the community blew past its $295,500 goal, raising $328,865 (111% of goal)! 🎉

Thank you to every walker, volunteer, donor and sponsor who made it happen. Together, we're advancing towards a World Without Alzheimer's.

Elizabeth spent Saturday tabling and handing out Retirement Connection Guides at the Elsie Stuhr Center's Health & Wellness Resource Fair, and what a great day it was! It was a full, lively event of health screenings, a vaccination clinic, raffle drawings, and a great lineup of lectures on healthy aging, Medicare changes for 2027, protecting against financial exploitation, and rethinking senior living.

Events like this are a reminder of how much our community cares about aging well and supporting one another. A big thank you to the THPRD Elsie Stuhr Center, and to everyone who stopped by our table! 🙌
