After 6 months with us, today marks Tom’s last day as our intern at CreativeHutch 👋

From helping illustrate a careers map for Cumberland Council, creating detailed hand-drawn artwork, getting involved in branding projects and developing ideas for his own business Mushroom Art, it's been brilliant to see his confidence and creativity grow.

We've loved having Tom in the studio and watching him get stuck into real projects, contribute ideas and develop new skills along the way.

AI can help with production, but strategy, brand voice and human judgement are what stop it becoming samey.

And let's be honest, there's already enough beige, bland brands out there.

If you look and sound like your competitors, how do people remember you when they're looking for your service or product? How do they choose you over someone else who does the same thing? How do they know you're the best fit for them?

Use AI, it's a great tool.

But the reality is, most of them started months ago.

Before a brochure reaches someone's hands, there's the briefing, concepts, design development, feedback, approvals and print to work through.

Which means while everyone else was wrapped up in winter coats, our designers were busy thinking about sunshine, gelato and ice cream for this Savona Foodservice brochure 🍦

The most important design work we do as designers happens before anything reaches the page. Before we colour and make things look pretty.

When it came to Brathay Trust's latest Impact Report, a big part of the work happened before we even opened InDesign.

➡️ Understanding the content
➡️ Pulling out the key messages
➡️ Gave the quotes room to breathe
➡️ Simplifying complex information
➡️ Making the impact easy to see at a glance

The result? A report that feels clearer, fresher and far more engaging to read.

Because when people can quickly understand the impact, the story becomes much more powerful.

Always lovely to hear positive feedback 🙌

This one comes from the brilliant Caroline and the team at Carlisle Youth Zone following their Reaching New Heights fundraiser.

The challenge saw local businesses take on the climbing wall and collectively attempt to climb the height of Scafell Pike, all to raise money for the incredible work Carlisle Youth Zone does for young people across our city.

For charities and community organisations, it can be difficult to find the time and resources to capture events like this while also running them. That's where we can help:
