Last night I was watching The Martian and the final line stayed with me.

What hit me is that Mike Watney didn’t wait for things to feel easy, safe, or perfect. He had to wait for the storm to pass… and then he did the work.

That feels SO REAL right now.

To my fellow Latinos and to everyone who built a life and a business far from where they were born: these days are very freaking heavy. Between extreme weather, uncertainty, fear, and everything happening in this country, it can feel like we’re constantly bracing for impact.

But here’s the reminder I’m holding onto (and sharing with you):
You don’t have to solve everything at once.
You just solve what’s in front of you.
You rest when the storm hits.
And as soon as possible, you keep going.

Because in this case, “home” isn’t always a place.
Home can be your business staying alive.
Home can be a goal you’ve been quietly working toward.
Home can be stability, peace, or simply the feeling that you’re moving forward again.

So we gotta do the work. Step by step.
We keep solving what we can.
And little by little, we make it home 🤍

Extreme weather doesn’t just change our plans…
for many small businesses, it means lost income they can’t recover easily.

When a shop has to close early or shut down for a full day, there’s no backup system. No paid weather days. No safety net in most of the cases.

So if you’re wondering “what can I actually do to help?” 👇here are a few things:

• Order ahead or buy a gift card for later
• Share their post or story so others know they’re closed
• Be patient with delays, they’re doing their best
• Tip what you can
• Check in, even with a simple message
• Support local when things reopen

Every January I feel this rush!!! Like I’m supposed to suddenly be perfectly organized, super-focused, and the unstoppable version of myself on January 1st 😅

But honestly? What’s helped me the most is not planning more… it’s planning better.

Before I touch a content calendar, a strategy doc, or a business goal, I ask myself:
What actually feels sustainable for me this year?

Because if the plan doesn’t fit your life, it won’t last.

This year, I’m not chasing anything.
I’m choosing more clarity.
